A dog\u2019s sixth sense leads to terror when his owner relocates to a haunted house in Good Boy, and the new poster warns to trust his instincts.<\/p>\n

Fall head over heels for Indy the dog as the titular Good Boy when it releases in theaters on October 3, 2025.<\/p>\n

In the film, \u201cOur canine hero, Indy, finds himself on a new adventure with his human owner\u2014and best friend\u2014Todd, leaving city life for a long-vacant family home in the country. From the start, two things are abundantly clear: Indy is wary of the creepy old house, and his affection for Todd is unwavering. <\/p>\n

\u201cAfter moving in, Indy is immediately vexed by empty corners, tracks an invisible presence only he can see, perceives phantasmagoric warnings from a long-dead dog, and is haunted by visions of the previous occupant\u2019s grim death. When Todd begins succumbing to the dark forces swirling around the house, Indy must battle a malevolence intent on dragging his beloved Todd into the afterlife.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ben Leonberg\u00a0makes his feature directorial debut from a script he co-wrote with\u00a0Alex Cannon.<\/p>\n

The film stars Indy, Leonberg\u2019s real-life canine, as well as indie horror stalwart Larry Fessenden,<\/a> Shane Jensen, and Arielle Friedman.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen your lead actor is a dog, traditional filmmaking rules go out the window: For three years, my wife (also the film\u2019s producer) and I worked around his schedule \u2014 eliciting his \u2018performance\u2019 by making silly noises, posing him in specific positions, and enticing him around our \u2018haunted\u2019 house with treats. All shots with Indy were captured on closed sets so that we could maintain his focus, and I only ended up acting in it because I\u2019m one of two people Indy truly loves and listens to. Fortunately, I\u2019ve always believed the best films emerge because of their constraints, not in spite of them. Horror, in particular, thrives on ingenuity over budget,\u201d Leonberg said in a statement.<\/p>\n

I wrote in my SXSW review<\/a>, \u201cFraming the story entirely from the perspective of man\u2019s best friend poses unique storytelling challenges but instantly creates a sustained feeling of unease and anxiety over the pup\u2019s wellbeing.\u201d<\/p>\n
