(ABC News: Xavier Martin)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;[Clients are] coming in for our support, to help reconnect, to work on the debt, and [we] advocate on their behalf about what&#8217;s an appropriate amount to pay and what they can afford,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;[Being disconnected] leads to other issues \u2026 you&#8217;re not able to put food in the fridge, that then leads to food security issues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;We can see and understand the impact that [energy debt is] having, and the increase for us to support is definitely there.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">According to the <a class=\"Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/energyconsumersaustralia.com.au\/our-work\/surveys\/consumer-energy-report-card-data\" data-component=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">latest report card from peak industry body Energy Consumers Australia<\/a> (ECA), Territorians are less satisfied with their energy providers than people in other Australian jurisdictions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Research released by ECA in December found almost 20 per cent of NT households surveyed had reported contacting their provider about difficulties paying bills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Of the NT customers surveyed, 22 per cent said they were &#8220;somewhat&#8221; or &#8220;very dissatisfied&#8221; with payment support options offered by their energy retailer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Technical issues&#8217; to blame<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">In a statement, Jacana conceded &#8220;a small number&#8221; of customers received their bills late &#8220;due to technical issues&#8221; within the retailer&#8217;s billing processes last year \u2014 but the provider said those issues had since been resolved.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">However, multiple Alice Springs residents told the ABC Jacana had blamed PWC, saying the supplier was not providing meter readings on time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">In response to the claim, a PWC spokesperson said the organisation provided metering data to retailers &#8220;within prescribed time frames&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">PWC said delays had been experienced &#8220;in a small number of cases&#8221; due to &#8220;complexities associated with individual customers and system processes&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A group of six powerlines, varying distances from the camera, standing on hill near green bushes on top of red dirt.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/ba6f1adc0e51dd97309b6ac9c8f30f93.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">The provider said technical difficulties were linked to the billing delay some Jacana customers reported experiencing.
