His appointment was confirmed after an internal application and interview process for the FIU Head&#8217;s post, which became vacant following the dismissal of Ismail Sajid.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ishan is an experienced Chartered Accountant. He is an Associate Member of the UK&#8217;s Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and an Affiliate Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives.<\/p>\n<p>Over his twelve-year career at MMA, Ishan has filled various senior positions, including Head of Corporate Accounts section and Head of Financial Controls division.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>FIU is a special unit formed under the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Act. As per the law, the FIU Head&#8217;s appointment and dismissal fall solely under the MMA Governor&#8217;s authority.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sajid, who most recently filled the post, was dismissed under allegations of sexual harassment.
