{"id":520465,"date":"2026-03-05T14:33:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T14:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/520465\/"},"modified":"2026-03-05T14:33:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T14:33:09","slug":"diogo-moreira-learns-from-zarco-on-motogp-debut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/520465\/","title":{"rendered":"Diogo Moreira learns from Zarco on MotoGP debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Diogo Moreira completed his first MotoGP weekend by finishing 13th in both the Thai Sprint and Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday\u2019s result also delivered the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/teams\/lcr-honda\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LCR Honda<\/a> rider his first premier-class points.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps more importantly, the reigning Moto2 champion spent much of the grand prix learning from team-mate Johann Zarco.<\/p>\n<p>While the Sprint saw the leading group quickly break away, Moreira managed to stay with Zarco through the middle phase of Sunday\u2019s race.<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/thai-motogp-hondas.png\"   type=\"image\/png\" alt=\"2026 Thai MotoGP: Hondas\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.76\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>2026 Thai MotoGP: Hondas<\/p>\n<p> \u00a9\u00a0Peter McLaren<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>Like many riders, the Brazilian struggled with rear tyre wear but used what he had learned to produce a strong final six laps.<\/p>\n<p>The closing stages also brought Enea Bastianini into the fight, with the Tech3 KTM rider splitting the two Honda machines at the chequered flag.<\/p>\n<p>While he had lost ground in the middle stages, Moreira kept pace with his more experienced team-mates once the tyre grip reduced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Sprint was super fast, from the first lap until the last lap,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/motogp\/racer\/1044199\/diogo-moreira\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Moreira<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday was a bit different, because the other riders started more calmly, and it was good for me because I learned a lot behind Zarco.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen at the end, I fought with Enea, and it was fun.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe tyre dropped off quite a lot, so I struggled a bit there, but overall it was really good.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt some point I was alone pushing, because after 12 laps the tyre degradation was significant, but it was still a positive race for me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve started the season with high motivation and this is a learning process.
