Trent Robinson took issue with a lopsided penalty count that finished 18-7 against the Roosters in their 42-18 first up loss to the Warriors<\/a> at Go Media Stadium. <\/p>\n

At one stage the Roosters were down 11-2 in the penalty count and Robinson admits he hasn\u2019t seen many like it in his time in the NRL. <\/p>\n

\u201cThings will go against you,\u201d Robinson said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think 11-2. The opposition apply a lot of pressure. It depends on the referee about how they determine those and 11-2 is quite incredible in our game. <\/p>\n

\u201cThen we had video ref decisions and all of that. But as I go back to, depending on what team you want to be, is how much of a swing against you do you let in that many points for us? And I\u2019m okay. I think we\u2019ll execute the attack. I\u2019m not worried about missing that execution. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt would have been nice to get that back. But we want to be a team that you can have 11-2 against. You can have decisions go against you, and then you can put your gloves up and say, it\u2019s cool. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe might be a few points down, but we can hold on to that no matter how far it swings. Round 1 we\u2019re not able to do that. Round two. We\u2019ll see.\u201d <\/p>\n

Roosters skipper James Tedesco admitted he was frustrated with the penalty count, but was more disappointed with his team and their poor defence against the Warriors. <\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, we had a lot of calls against, with the penalty count and a couple of tries, and then a couple of their tries as well, so it was disappointing,\u201d Tedesco said. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut we still let in that many points and we can\u2019t be doing that, so that\u2019s disappointing, especially that last 10 minutes to let in a couple of tries, when we were sort of fighting our way back and giving ourselves a chance. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a couple of opportunities we didn\u2019t execute, and then I thought it wasn\u2019t a great end performance. <\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like there was some positives throughout the game in patches, but it\u2019s disappointing to put all that work in pre-season and come over and let in that many points.\u201d <\/p>\n

Despite the convincing loss, Robinson was proud of his team for fighting back from 28-6 down to give themselves a chance at 30-18. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s footy. It\u2019s Round 1. There\u2019s some disappointing parts in the first half in how that went,\u201d Robinson said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThings sort of swung against us there and got out and I really enjoyed the fightback in that second half. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt felt like we were coming. Momentum had shifted. We made that move and then we just didn\u2019t execute well enough. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe had enough possession there. We had 15 to go after them, and credit to them, they held us out. And then it turned around. But the story is 42 points is unacceptable for a game. <\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter how you feel or how it went, there\u2019s no way that that\u2019s acceptable in a performance and we know that. It\u2019s pretty simple. We\u2019ve got to make sure we fix that up.\u201d <\/p>\n

It was a clunky first up performance from star recruit Daly Cherry-Evans and Sam Walker in the halves and Robinson revealed the former Manly halfback was dejected post match. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s good to get him out there and to see him and Sammy moving around together,\u201d Robinson said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI know it was a tough night for all of us out there, so it didn\u2019t go as he wanted, but it\u2019s getting started for us there. And they started moving a bit more than the Parramatta trial, so that\u2019s a positive and it\u2019s an okay start. I know he\u2019s disappointed in there, but cool. Let\u2019s go.\u201d <\/p>\n

However, Robinson refused to put the loss down to his star halves not delivering with their combination. <\/p>\n

\u201cI thought we opened them up a lot,\u201d Robinson said. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I don\u2019t think to look to the combination is looking in the right area. I think we could have grabbed one or two more. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think a couple got pulled back there, so I didn\u2019t see the combination as an issue. It\u2019ll improve, that\u2019s for sure.
