A shark alert has been issued for Preston Beach south of Mandurah with a whale carcass floating near shore.<\/p>\n
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development said the carcass was spotted by a member of the public at 9.50am on Friday.<\/p>\n
It said it was possible the carcass could act as an attractant that could lead to sharks coming in close to shore along the beach.<\/p>\n
The department urged water users to take extra care in the area.<\/p>\n
DPIRD officers are monitoring the situation.<\/p>\n
