AFL<\/a> great and radio star Nathan Brown has been \u201couted\u201d by his Triple M buddies, who have revealed the former Richmond and Western Bulldogs star has been wooed by the Victorian Liberal Party.<\/p>\n

On Triple M\u2019s the Friday Huddle, veteran journalist Damian Barrett said he was going to \u201cout\u201d somebody, then added \u201cthere\u2019s something about Triple M people being approached to run politically\u201d.<\/p>\n

Barrett then revealed that former Victorian Liberal leader Brad Battin \u2014 who was ousted in November last year \u2014 had a meeting with Brown and inquired about the ex-AFL gun\u2019s political aspirations.<\/p>\n

While Brown played down the meeting, he did confirm he met with Triple M bosses to inquire about possible conflicts of interests if he was to take his politically career further.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never said I was thinking about going into politics. The question I asked was, \u2018would it be a conflict of interest (if I did)?\u2019,\u201d Brown amusingly informed his colleagues.<\/p>\n

Brown then confessed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the end of last year, through a mutual friend, I had a catch-up with Brad Battin … and unfortunately for me and Brad, two weeks later Brad was out the door.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it was probably a good thing I didn\u2019t go out and do a press conference to say I was joining the Liberal Party.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to break confidence in what he said, but it was just about getting some new blood into the Liberal Party.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd look, it was a very brief conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown was asked if he seriously considered the move.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, you consider it when somebody asks you a question like that,\u201d he admitted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were put together by a my mutual friend who is already in the Liberal Party, and it was just a very brief chat, nothing locked down, nothing went forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barrett said he understood a seat for Brown \u201cwas identified\u201d and that \u201che was basically a lock\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t promised a seat, but there was talk about potential seats,\u201d Brown clarified.<\/p>\n

\u201cDamo … when I tell you things in confidence, I don\u2019t expect them to come up on the radio.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hawthorn champion Jason Dunstall said: \u201cI\u2019m genuinely flabbergasted This, to me, is the most maniacally insane concept that anyone could ever come up with, and why Nathan would consider it for more than 10 seconds is beyond me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown said it wasn\u2019t a job offer, as such, but it was more of a discussion.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was just a, you know, shooting-the-breeze type situation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Bulldogs great Luke Darcy (and former Triple M star) was also linked to the Liberal Party and previously received high praise from Peter Dutton.<\/p>\n
