The TruStream follows the Stereo 130 and Stereo 230 integrated amplifiers, the CDT CD transport and the Sandwich loudspeaker into a product lineup rebuilt from scratch since the brand’s revival in 2020.

The aesthetic carries over from the rest of the range: a walnut wood-veneered cabinet over an aluminium chassis, a design language that traces its lineage back to the Stereo 30 amplifier of 1963. It is the same mid-century look that has defined LEAK’s relaunch, and for buyers already invested in the brand’s amplifiers or transport, the TruStream will slot visually into an existing setup without friction.

Streaming engine

At its core is a Silent Angel streaming platform, the same technology underpinning the Mission 778S, which also launched in early 2026. LEAK and Mission share a parent company in China’s IAG. The streaming software is a custom build on Silent Angel’s VitOS platform, with control apps available for iOS and Android.

But you might not need that app. Streaming service integration here covers Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, TuneIn, Roon Ready, Apple AirPlay 2 and DLNA/UPnP. Network streaming is handled by dual-band Wi-Fi or Gigabit Ethernet.

More connectivity

On the digital input side, there is a USB-C port for PC/Mac hook-ups. Analogue outputs include balanced XLR, single-ended RCA and a 6.35mm headphone output. Digital outputs run to TOSLINK and coaxial. A 12V trigger input and link output are also present.

A neat wrinkle: the two USB-A ports serve double duty. They accept USB storage devices for local playback but can also act as digital outputs to feed an external DAC.

Internal DAC

According to LEAK, the TruStream differs from the Mission 778S internally, most notably in its power supply: a Noratel toroidal transformer replaces the unit used in the 778S, with dedicated supplies for the XMOS chip, MCU and DAC stage. That DAC is built around an ESS ES9038Q2M and a Class A post-DAC filter. PCM support reaches 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD to DSD512.

The LEAK TruStream is due to ship in April, priced at £999.

Further information: LEAK

LEAK has announced its first streaming DAC.
