A candid Instagram post by fitness influencer and YouTuber Stephanie Buttermore about her mental health has resurfaced online following her death at the age of 36. Buttermore’s longtime fianc\u00e9e, Jeff Nippard<\/a>, announced her passing in a post on March 6. The post read, \u201cIt is with profound sorrow that we share the sudden passing of Jeff\u2019s fianc\u00e9e and partner of ten years, Stephanie.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement continued, \u201cShe will be remembered for her warmth and compassion, her love for her family, and her PhD research on ovarian cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Buttermore is known for her science-based fitness content and candid discussions about eating habits and body image. She had built a large following through her educational content on nutrition and training.<\/p>\n

Buttermore about her mental health<\/p>\n

In her May 2024 post titled \u201cWhat I\u2019ve Learned Taking A Break from Instagram<\/a>,\u201d Buttermore said stepping away from social media dramatically improved her mental well-being.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mental health has been the best it\u2019s ever been,\u201d she wrote, explaining that she had previously struggled with severe anxiety. According to the influencer, the anxiety had once become so overwhelming that she felt unable to leave her home.<\/p>\n

\u201cI no longer struggle with anxiety. At all,\u201d she wrote, adding that she had once experienced \u201calmost crippling\u201d panic episodes.<\/p>\n

Buttermore further elaborated that distancing herself from social media helped eliminate the constant pressure to measure self-worth through likes or comments. \u201cI\u2019m living in a judgment free space and it\u2019s peaceful here,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

She acknowledged that social media also had some \u201cnegative\u201d aspects. She said she missed interacting with her online community, explaining that the platform had allowed her to connect with friends, learn from others and stay motivated.<\/p>\n

She, however, admitted that, \u201cOverall the pros have outweighed the cons for me. Sometimes I still feel a void in my day-to-day life from being so removed from this app, but the positives from taking this break has been worth it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Living more in the moment<\/p>\n

Buttermore also wrote that leaving social media made her more present in her day-to-day life.<\/p>\n

She described spending more meaningful time with loved ones, including her partner Nippard, and focusing on real-world experiences rather than documenting them online.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I\u2019m with my family or Jeff, I\u2019m much more immersed in the moment,\u201d she wrote, explaining that she had stopped checking notifications while spending time with others.<\/p>\n
