If \u2018Tank\u2019 were to return to the ring this year, it remains something Stevenson would, at least, consider.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would love for it to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, that does not mean any pathway toward a successful negotiation would be smooth. \u201cThe way he went on social media, bashed me, like I need him. I just feel disrespected about it,\u201d Stevenson said. \u201cI\u2019m a grown man, I make my own money, and living a spectacular life. I don\u2019t need nobody.\u201d<\/p>\n
There was, perhaps, a time in which \u2018Tank\u2019s\u2019 standing within the sport suggested he was a more popular fighter as proven by ticket sales across numerous critical American boxing markets (Las Vegas and New York City among more regional hotbeds) as well as pay-per-view sales.<\/p>\n
However, that pendulum of power may now have swung toward Stevenson because of the run he\u2019s in the middle of, thwarting a level of competition that Davis has not matched.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf he feels as though I need him, then it\u2019s like, whatever,\u201d Stevenson told Rogan. \u201cI\u2019m not in need of that fight.\u201d<\/p>\n

There was also enough time on the podcast to talk about a fight that could have been, but never was \u2014 one that would pit the present at the time in Lomachenko against Stevenson, then considered the future, at a time in which they both operated under the Top Rank promotional banner.<\/p>\n
The two were aware of one another\u2019s skills have sparred each other, when Stevenson was much younger. <\/p>\n
\u201cOn Lomachenko: \u201cSkillfully, I thought I was the better fighter \u2014 my range, distance, and speed was better than his but a standpoint of being in shape, throwing more punches, I feel he was \u2013 he was getting ready for his fight,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
When Rogan asked if he thinks this was the reason Lomachenko was seemingly loathe to engage him in a real fight, Stevenson said yes.<\/p>\n
