Claressa Shields will have her hands full if she fights Shadasia Green, according to the self-proclaimed GWOAT\u2019s women\u2019s boxing<\/a> rival Alycia Baumgardner.<\/p>\n

A two-time gold medal-winning Olympian, Shields has put together an 18-0 (3 KOs) record with wins, to date, over Christina Hammer, Marie-Eve Dicaire, and Savannah Marshall. In her last bout, she boxed to a lopsided decision over Franchon Crews-Dezurn in front of approximately 18,000 fans at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, February 22. Attention swiftly turned to what could be next, with Shields mentioning a Crews-Dizurn trilogy bout in a different weight class, a catchweight fight against Mikaela Mayer, or a fight versus IBF champ Green.<\/p>\n

For Baumgardner, a Most Valuable Promotions stablemate of Green, that\u2019s a bad news bout for Shields.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s dangerous,\u201d Baumgarder said of Green when talking to reporters after an MVP press event earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Green had been talking about the purported Shields fight. \u201cSkills pay the bills,\u201d Shadasia said. <\/p>\n

\u201cClaressa is a great fighter but standing across the ring from Shadasia Green with 11 KOs and the threat \u2014 it makes for a really good fight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Green\u2019s stature in boxing is only increasing with every fight, rebounding from a competitive loss to Crews Dezurn in 2023 with three wins on the spin including a narrow victory over Marshall, last year. She returns to the ring at the theater inside Madison Square Garden in New York on April 17 against Lani Daniels, with Baumgardner fighting Bo Mi Re Shin on the same show.<\/p>\n

The fighters were at an MVP conference to confirm the promotion\u2019s new partnership with ESPN. For MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian it was a chance to present the broadcaster with a pitch that \u201cfocused on women\u2019s boxing because we think that\u2019s the untapped opportunity to actually drive real new fan engagement in the sport.\u201d<\/p>\n

And now, its hulking roster which features many of the most prominent female fighters in the business perhaps stand to benefit, beyond Baumgardner and Green.<\/p>\n

In a statement sent to Boxing Social, Green vs Shields is \u201ca great fight\u201d that MVP and Bidarian can \u201cmake happen,\u201d Shadasia said. <\/p>\n

\u201cJust recently, I heard Shields say she wanted to fight Mikaela Mayer,\u201d Green added. \u201cShe has to want it. I want it, but reality is we both have to come to terms and be willing to fight each other. I\u2019m here. I\u2019m not going anywhere, and I\u2019m looking forward to the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
