A beloved wellness therapist is fighting to rebuild her life after she was brutally attacked inside her own Sydney<\/a> apartment building by a former celebrity dentist who was shot dead by police.<\/a><\/p>\n

Christine Campeau, 56, has spent decades helping others heal, guiding them through pain, stress and trauma as a yoga teacher and breath\u2011work facilitator.<\/p>\n

But on Tuesday morning, Campeau was in the communal laundry of her Potts Point building when a man she had never met launched a random, frenzied assault.<\/p>\n

Neighbours heard her scream as she was beaten in the face and head, suffering serious facial injuries and a broken nose.<\/p>\n

A second woman, 57-year-old Chloe Paul, was also attacked moments lateral and suffered extensive facial injuries.<\/p>\n

Campeau was rushed to St Vincent\u2019s Hospital and now faces weeks of physical recovery and \u201cemotional healing\u201d.<\/p>\n

The injuries have left her unable to work, cutting off the livelihood she has built through years of caring for others.<\/p>\n

Friends have launched a GoFundMe<\/a> to support her through the weeks ahead, covering lost income along with medical and living expenses.<\/p>\n

Police said the man responsible was 41\u2011year\u2011old Steven Lin \u2014 a once high\u2011profile dentist, best\u2011selling author and social media personality who had recently spiralled into drug use and run\u2011ins with the law.<\/p>\n

Lin broke into the building and was found rifling through residents\u2019 laundry before the attacks.<\/p>\n

Officers say he then jumped from a window and came at police with a knife.<\/p>\n

\u201cA taser was deployed. It was ineffective. One round was discharged by a police officer striking the male,\u201d Assistant Commissioner Peter McKenna said.<\/p>\n

Lin died at the scene.<\/p>\n

Detectives are now retracing Lin\u2019s movements in the hours before the attack to determine why he entered the building and what state of mind he was in.<\/p>\n

A critical incident investigation has been declared, with the shooting to be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command and overseen by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.<\/p>\n
