One of two climbers injured in a fall on Bluff Knoll, in WA’s Great Southern, has been retrieved from the mountain, while efforts remain underway to rescue the other.<\/p>\n

Emergency services said both climbers sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were due to be assessed by St John Ambulance.<\/p>\n

One was taken from the scene by helicopter, and efforts to rescue the other person are ongoing, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called about 8:30am today to assist a 30-year-old woman and 29-year-old man.<\/p>\n

A rescue helicopter was dispatched to assist with the operation, about 100 kilometres north of Albany.<\/p>\n

Multiple emergency services are responding, including crews from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, WA Police, St John WA and the State Emergency Service.<\/p>\n

The rescue helicopter was circling near the base of the 1,099-metre peak about 10:30am.<\/p>\n

The extent of the pair’s injuries and the circumstances surrounding the fall are not yet known.<\/p>\n

Police and park authorities have closed the Stirling Range National Park “until further notice” because of “emergency rescue operations”, the park’s website says.<\/p>\n
