MID49 new lineup of rigging accessories designed specifically for the Canon EOS C50 is now available. It includes an upper cage, a 15mm rod clamp, and a bundled Mid Kit. The accessories are now shipping and address some of the key rigging challenges that come with Canon\u2019s compact, handlebar-style cinema camera body.<\/p>\n
The Canon EOS C50 has proven to be one of the more interesting compact cinema cameras to arrive in recent years. Announced at IBC 2025<\/a>, the camera packs a 7K full-frame sensor with 3:2 open-gate recording, 12-bit Cinema RAW Light, and a dual base ISO of 800\/6400 into a body that weighs just 665g. MID49, the Dallas-based accessories company co-founded by the team behind Wooden Camera, has been quick to respond. The core piece is the Upper Cage for Canon EOS C50, priced at $250. Weighing 438g (15.5oz), it wraps around the camera body and provides 1\/4-20, 3\/8-16, and M4x20mm ARRI MAP threaded holes at multiple positions. An HDMI lock with reduction inserts protects the camera\u2019s HDMI output from accidental strain or disconnection, which is a practical concern when running to an external monitor or EVF in the field. For shooters who want a complete rigging solution out of the box, MID49 offers the Mid Kit for Canon EOS C50 at $695. The bundle combines the Upper Cage, the Baseline 15mm LW baseplate for the Upper Cage, the 15mm Rod Clamp, and two 15mm 9-inch rods. The Baseline 15mm LW is a quick-release baseplate that holds two 15mm rods at lightweight (LW) spacing. It features an ARCA Swiss camera dovetail on top and an ARRI standard dovetail on the bottom for tripod and support attachment. Attachment and detachment is handled via a thumb screw release, with a pop-engage mechanism to confirm secure mounting.<\/p>\n A Base Kit is also available at $550 for those who prefer the cage and baseplate without the rod clamp and rods.

Two stability features address a common issue when mounting heavy lenses or follow focus motors to compact bodies. A left-side camera tie-down prevents the EOS C50 from tipping under the torque of a focus motor, while a rear handle tie-down reinforces the connection between the handle and the body when the rig is under load. Both are welcome additions for shooters who run cine lenses or third-party glass via adapters.
At the base of the cage sits an ARCA Swiss dovetail interface with an adjustable lens support clamp. Three lengths of 1\/4-20 support screws are included, compatible with third-party lens adapters such as Metabones and similar units. This dovetail connects to MID49\u2019s Baseline 15mm LW baseplate to position the rods at the correct optical axis height for the EOS C50, though the baseplate is sold separately.
Canon EOS C50 15mm Rod Clamp
At $65, the Canon EOS C50 15mm Rod Clamp is a compact, purpose-built solution that takes advantage of the two M4 holes on the front of the EOS C50\u2019s handle, the same holes normally occupied by Canon\u2019s microphone shockmount. Rather than losing that mounting point, MID49 has designed the clamp to replicate the M4 holes on top, allowing the original shockmount to be stacked on the bracket if needed.
Beyond the standard rod clamp function, the accessory includes M4x20 ARRI MAP holes and an ARRI 1\/4-20 threaded point. Given what we know about the EOS C50 from our hands-on review<\/a> and lab test<\/a>, the camera is well-suited to run-and-gun and documentary work, but it benefits from a solid rigging foundation when heavier glass or follow focus systems enter the picture. MID49\u2019s accessories appear designed with exactly those scenarios in mind.<\/p>\n
