Residents in Perth’s north-east will soon have a new place to tee off all year round, with a virtual golf simulator entertainment venue set to open in Morley.

X-Golf Morley will open on Friday, March 27, opposite the Galleria Shopping Centre on Russell Street.

The venue will include six virtual golf simulators, a dedicated ‘19th Hole Lounge’ with a full-service bar and kitchen, free-to-use pool tables and darts.

The indoor simulators use patented ball retrieval, sensor and software technology to deliver an “ultra-realistic” golf experience for players of all skill levels.

The 900sqm Morley facility will be the sixth location in the X-Golf network in WA, joining Balcatta, Bunbury, Joondalup, Rockingham, and Nedlands.

Indoor virtual golf venues have exploded in popularity in recent years, with more than 30 X‑Golf locations now operating across Australia and New Zealand.

Local businessman Dean Petrie, the operator behind the successful turnaround and $10 million sale of Wanneroo Markets, is launching X-Golf Morley along with his wife, Sarah.

Dean said he can’t wait to welcome the Morley community in to experience the $2m sport-entertainment venue and believes it reflects a broader shift in how sport and socialising intersect.

“Indoor golf maintains the competitive and social side of the game but makes it a lot more accessible with limitations like time, the weather and cost significantly reduced,” he said.

“It’s a lot easier to fit into everyday life and it opens the door for people who might never step on to a traditional golf course.”

The venue is expected to employ nine local staff members and offer a range of experiences, including one-on-one coaching with PGA-qualified professionals, competitive play formats such as X-League and Your Tour, and host community events like Ladies Nights and Juniors programs.

With Morley’s population estimated to have grown by 10 per cent since the 2021 ABS Census, Dean said shifting demographics, alongside broader economic patterns reshaping leisure behaviour, influenced his decision to set up his franchise in the area.

“The scale of investment into the Galleria clearly shows that Morley is changing, but entertainment options haven’t really kept pace with how people want to spend their time now,” Dean said.

“With tighter household budgets influencing discretionary spending, more people are opting for accessible, local entertainment experiences, creating demand for year-round leisure options that don’t require flights or full-day commitments.”

[566
64,63,505,755,47,46,85,42796,45
post-530116","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-golf","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-central","tag-golf","tag-north","tag-perth","tag-sports","tag-stirling","tag-wa-news
["GET
