Hilary Duff<\/a> appeared on The Tonight Show<\/a> to perform her recent single \u201cRoommates\u201d<\/a> and to discuss her career with host Jimmy Fallon<\/a>. The pop star performed in a bedroom-themed set alongside a live band, giving the song a cinematic TV debut.<\/p>\n

\u201cRoommates\u201d comes off Duff\u2019s new LP, Luck \u2026or Something.<\/a> The track was co-written by Duff, her husband, musician Matthew Koma, and Brian Phillips, and reflects on losing the spark in a relationship. Luck \u2026or Something is Duff\u2019s\u00a0first new album<\/a>\u00a0since 2015\u2019s\u00a0Breathe In. Breathe Out. She will kick off a world tour later this year before heading to New Zealand and Australia<\/a> in October.<\/p>\n

Duff sat down with Fallon to discuss the album and her tour, as well as growing up as Lizzie Maguire. She shared that her kids are fans of her music. \u201cThey love my music,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s very sweet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fallon professed his love for The Lizzie Maguire Show and then asked Duff, \u201cWho was your Lizzie Maguire? Who were you superfans of when you were growing up?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Olsen twins,\u201d she said. \u201cBrother For Sale! When they were spies. They were like twin sister spies. I had it on video, my VHS, and I was obsessed with the Olsen twins. I\u2019m about to drop a lot of names here: I met the Olsen twins at Aaron Carter\u2019s birthday party, pre-us dating. I was like, \u2018I have arrived. I\u2019ve made it. Both of the Olsen twins are here.\u2019 It was crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duff also answered a series of questions from fans, including her favourite onscreen love interest and her favourite 2000s Hilary Duff commercial.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere on the late-night show, Duff joined Fallon for a \u201cSip and Sing\u201d challenge, which involved singing random songs with a mouthful of water. Fallon unsuccessfully sang Harry Styles\u2019 \u201cWatermelon Sugar\u201d while Duff attempted Alanis Morisette\u2019s \u201cIronic,\u201d which Fallon somehow guessed.<\/p>\n

Duff recently sat down with Rolling Stone<\/a> to explain how she wanted to approach music as a mom. \u201cIt was really important to me to not make a record that was like, \u2018I\u2019m a mom and I pick up my kids at school and pack lunches every day and it\u2019s so hard,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cIt was not at all what I was interested in talking about. What I was interested in talking about is the shift in how it makes me feel, as a person.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cPeople have known my life since I was a child, and so they know all the characters in it and they know what I\u2019m talking about. For me, it was important to be open about that theme. It genuinely came from the heart.\u201d<\/p>\n
