Jes\u00fas Luzardo told The Inquirer\u2019s baseball podcast in January that he was \u201creally interested\u201d in discussing a contract extension with the Phillies during spring training.<\/p>\n
They did more than just discuss it. The 28-year-old left-hander has agreed to a five-year, $135 million extension, a major league source confirmed on Monday.<\/p>\n
The Phillies traded for Luzardo before last season and he showed great promise, posting a 3.92 ERA with career highs in innings (183\u2154) and strikeouts (216).
