OVER the years, David Reynolds<\/a> has rarely hidden from his disdain for certain tracks, chiefly Queensland Raceway and Sydney Motorsport Park.<\/p>\n

But after a six-year Ipswich hiatus for the Repco Supercars Championship, even Reynolds seemed surprised with his assessment at the close of play today.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to say something a little bit controversial. I actually didn\u2019t mind driving around this track,\u201d declared the Team 18 veteran.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been six years, there\u2019s a lot of character back in the track, a lot of bumps, a few new surfaces, and actually was enjoyable, so that\u2019s probably the first time I\u2019ve said that in 20 years!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018The Paperclip\u2019 has undergone significant upgrades in recent years under new owner Tony Quinn\u2019s watch.<\/p>\n

All told, it wasn\u2019t a spectacular day for Reynolds\u2019 #20 Tradie Energy Camaro, which wound up 15th and 14th in the two Friday practice sessions.<\/p>\n

Teammate Anton De Pasquale<\/a>\u2019s corresponding results were second and ninth, while the Red Bull Ampol Camaros of Will Brown<\/a> and Broc Feeney<\/a> went fastest overall.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t too bad. Struggled with the car a little bit and then we put the new tyres on at the end which gave it a bit of grip and ended up 14th,\u201d said Reynolds.<\/p>\n

\u201cBit of stuff to work on my end. Anton\u2019s car was fast so we\u2019ll take a leaf out of his book and see where we end up.\u201d<\/p>\n
