Three four-week-old meerkats are captivating visitors during their \u201cpeak of cuteness\u201d at Tasmania Zoo.<\/p>\n

Head keeper Riley Lowe said the trio are at the perfect age for viewing before they grow to resemble adult meerkats.<\/p>\n

While keepers aren\u2019t supposed to play favourites, Lowe admitted baby meerkats rank highly among the zoo\u2019s more exciting arrivals.<\/p>\n

\u201cBaby meerkats are definitely up there in terms of the more exciting ones,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\"\"Families can watch the baby meerkats while enjoying lunch at the zoo\u2019s cafe<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t mean to be rude to baby wallabies, but it\u2019s just not as exciting as a baby meerkat.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trio were now starting to explore and become a little bit more independent from their mum and dad.<\/p>\n

Lowe said the babies haven\u2019t been named yet as keepers are waiting to determine their sex first.<\/p>\n

Lowe said several successful breeding seasons in recent years had helped make it easier for the parents this time around.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe mum and dad are both quite well versed at raising babies, so it makes it a little bit easier,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The meerkat enclosure sits near the zoo\u2019s cafe, creating an ideal viewing spot for families.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a really good spot to sit down, have your lunch, watch them,\u201d Lowe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re kind of moving around, playing with their older siblings now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Visitors can watch the pups interact with their family group for extended periods, with Lowe recommending spending at least half an hour observing their behaviour.<\/p>\n

Lowe urged animal lovers to visit soon, warning the optimal viewing window is limited.<\/p>\n
