For the fourth straight year, the 2026 Basketball Australia U18 and Junior Wheelchair National Championships will be available to watch exclusively on KommunityTV.<\/p>\n

The week-long showcase of elite talent featuring every state and territory tips off at the South Pine Sports Complex in Moreton Bay from April 12-19.<\/p>\n

WHY TO WATCH<\/p>\n

A key pathway event, the championships have a long history of launching future NBL, WNBL, NBA and WNBA stars, plus showcasing the next generation of Gliders and Rollers.<\/p>\n

The 2026 edition looks set to be no different, with a fresh crop of highly-touted emerging talents descending on the Sunshine State to write the next chapter of Aussie basketball history.<\/p>\n

Rival states will be plotting a way to wrestle the U18 titles out of Victoria\u2019s hands after the Big V secured a massive double-championship last year, with Vic Country claiming the boys\u2019 title and Vic Metro taking out the girls\u2019<\/p>\n

With heavy hitters like Will Hamilton, Lucas Byrne, and Madison Ryan returning to the court, the Victorians will undoubtedly enter the tournament with a target on their backs \u2013 and the firepower to remain the red-hot favourites.<\/p>\n

On the boys side, Western Australia Metro \u2013 a standout side in 2025 \u2013 possess a talented group led by NBL Next Star Luke Paul.<\/a><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, hosts Queensland South will be looking to leverage their home-court advantage, alongside strong squads named by New South Wales and South Australia.<\/p>\n

And the battle for the girls\u2019 title is shaping up to be just as fierce.<\/p>\n

Queensland are set to bring serious depth, featuring a string of U17 Sapphires squad members scattered across both their North and South teams.<\/p>\n

South Australia Metro, who fell agonisingly short of the championship by just one win last year, are on a redemption mission \u2013 but don\u2019t discount their SA Country counterparts as serious dark horses.<\/p>\n

The stakes will also be high in the Junior Wheelchair division, which features the best under-23 male and under-25 female players in the country.<\/p>\n

South Australia will be out to defend the prestigious Kevin Coombs Cup after taking down Queensland in a thrilling gold medal clash last year. <\/p>\n

However, they are going to face pressure from a hungry Queensland squad looking for revenge, alongside perennial powerhouse contenders Western Australia and Victoria.<\/p>\n
