Kyle Sandilands\u2019 $8m ask amid on-air fallout<\/a><\/p>\n\u2018Crossed a line\u2019: Kyle\u2019s comeback<\/p>\n
The show being taken off the airwaves was shocking but what most people were talking about was the end of Kyle and Jackie\u2019s friendship. <\/p>\n
There were a lot of arguments made online and in real life that Kyle had \u201cgone too far\u201d and \u201ccrossed a line\u201d and had been too \u201cmean\u201d. <\/p>\n
The general consensus was that Jackie had finally had enough, and the pair would not only never appear on-air together again but also not remain mates after 25 years. <\/p>\n
I think a lot of people figured there wasn\u2019t a way back, particularly after such a public spray and abrupt end to the on-air partnership. At that point, I definitely didn\u2019t think there was much Kyle could do to save the relationship.<\/p>\n
In a dramatic turn of events, though (this story has more drama than Home and Away) Kyle and Jackie are mates again.<\/p>\n
How? Because he apologised privately by text and again in his bombshell statement yesterday, and made it clear how much Jackie means to him.<\/p>\n
Firstly, Kyle shared that he\u2019d texted Jackie and apologised profusely after realising he\u2019d really hurt her feelings.<\/p>\n
\u201cI sent Jackie a message telling her I was sorry for anything I said that didn\u2019t go down well, that I love her and care for her, and that I could have handled it better. I meant every word of that, and I still do,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Kyle also referred to Jackie as his \u201cpartner\u201d and pointed out that partners have disagreements, but they don\u2019t have to be a relationship-ending.<\/p>\n
\u201cJackie and I have worked together for over 25 years. She is one of the most important people in my life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe idea that our partnership could end like this is devastating to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kyle is known for being a shock jock, a larger-than-life character and someone with a reputation for being unflinchingly honest, and the apology comes across as sincere.<\/p>\n
For better or worse, he doesn\u2019t hold back. <\/p>\n
Hottest thing a man can do<\/p>\n
Truthfully, one of the hottest things a man can do is acknowledge his mistakes, own up to his wrongdoings and apologise. Which is exactly what Kyle did; he also apologised without making excuses for himself.<\/p>\n
He didn\u2019t say, \u201cI\u2019m sorry I hurt your feelings, but you really talk about star signs too much.\u201d He said, \u201cI could have handled it better.\u201d<\/p>\n
This is a man taking responsibility for his own actions and not shirking any onto Jackie or anyone else. <\/p>\n
Again, emotional maturity is among the most attractive traits a man can have. Dare I say, he has even done a bit of self-reflection? And also not come to the conclusion that it was all Jackie\u2019s fault? Again, it\u2019s hot.<\/p>\n
This certainly doesn\u2019t make Kyle perfect, but I also can\u2019t pretend it isn\u2019t a perfect and effective response. <\/p>\n
So, men, learn from this: if you mess up, apologise.
