New South Wales skipper Kurtis Patterson has delivered a captain’s knock on the big stage to lead his side to the domestic One Day Cup title by four wickets against Tasmania.

Patterson came in at 1-5 during the first over of the run chase and batted for the remainder of the Blues innings as wickets fell around him, finishing unbeaten on 52 runs from 57 balls.

It was the latest stunning performance from Patterson who hit back-to-back centuries in his previous white ball games.

The Blues skipper won the toss and elected to bowl before rain halted play for the next four hours.

The game was almost abandoned before covers were removed shortly before 6pm.

Had they not been, Tasmania would have been crowned champions as the highest ranked team.

Play eventually got underway at 6.15pm and the Tigers were in all sorts of trouble early, falling to 5-25 with the top four all scoring single digits.

It was Tim Ward (26 runs from 25 balls) and a late cameo from Nikhil Chaudhary (31 from 24) which helped at least put a competitive total on the board of 118.

Blues opening bowling pair Ben Dwarshuis and Sean Abbott were the pick of the bowlers, picking up 3-30 and 3-25 respectively.

In reply, the Blues lost opening bat Josh Philippe for just four before losing young gun Sam Konstas for eight, leaving the visitors in trouble at 2-20 in the fifth over.

A small partnership between Patterson and Matthew Gilkes (16 from 19 balls) helped swing back momentum for NSW before three quick wickets had the Blues sitting at 5-73.

But Patterson and Joel Davies (20 from 10 balls) partnership of 23 off 16 balls set them up again to claim victory, as the Blues passed the score in the 21st over to win by four wickets.

It is the first One Day title NSW have won since 2020-21 while the Tigers title drought will extend to another year, having not won since 2009-10.

New South Wales skipper Kurtis Patterson has delivered a captain’s knock on the big stage to lead his…

[564
264794,64,63,740,85
post-533445","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-cricket","tag-matchidodd2025-260201","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-cricket","tag-sports
["GET
