Pic: Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The upcoming S&amp;P\/ASX index reweightings mean likely promotions for 4D Medical and ALS Ltd, but performance reviews for Pro Medicus and Telix<br \/>\nBroker says top-end-of-town healthcare valuations are \u201cincreasingly attractive\u201d<br \/>\nIntelicare shares surge up to 60% on \u2018biggest client deal to date\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Who is about to be fired and who is in for a promotion?<\/p>\n<p>Broker Canaccord has made an early call on what shares will be included in the key S&amp;P ASX indices, when the bourse reweights them on June 19.<\/p>\n<p>For healthcare stocks, the firm delivers mixed news.<\/p>\n<p>Lung imager <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/4d-medical-4dx\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">4D Medical (ASX:4DX)<\/a> \u201cprobably\u201d will be added to the S&amp;P\/ASX 200 index.<\/p>\n<p>But fellow bodily prober <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/promedicus-pme\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ProMedicus (ASX:PME)<\/a> looks set to be turfed from the top 50 ranking.<\/p>\n<p>4D Medical\u2019s ascension should not surprise, given the company\u2019s 1700% share surge over the past nine months.<\/p>\n<p>The market overseers ejected 4D from the broader all ordinaries index in September last year. That was awful timing, as 4D\u2019s share run was just gathering pace.<\/p>\n<p>Pro Medicus shares have lost more than half their value over the last six months, but the company still bears a $14.3 billion market cap.<\/p>\n<p>(Index inclusion is based not just on size).<\/p>\n<p>Lab testing giant <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/als-alq\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ALS (ASX:ALQ)<\/a> should take the place of Pro Medicus in the top 50 pantheon.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/telix-pharmaceuticals-tlx\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Telix Pharmaceuticals (ASX:TLX)<\/a> could \u201cpossibly\u201d tumble from the top 100 cohort, if its shares continue to underperform.<\/p>\n<p>Who\u2019s in and out<\/p>\n<p>For the record, the firm\u2019s broader probable ASX 200 inclusions are \u2018khaki\u2019 stock <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/electro-optic-systems-eos\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Electro Optic Systems (ASX:EOS) <\/a>and gold diggers <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/alkane-resources-alk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alkane Resources (ASX:ALK)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/kingsgate-consolidated-kcn\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kingsgate Consolidated (ASX:KCN)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>No surprises there.<\/p>\n<p>These promotions are likely to be at the expense of discounted online retailer <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/temple-webster-tpw\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Temple &amp; Webster (ASX:TPW)<\/a> , travel plays <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/siteminder-sdr\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SiteMinder (ASX:SDR)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/web-travel-group-web\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Web Travel Group (ASX:WEB)<\/a> and the hero-to-zero <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/guzman-y-gomez-gyg\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Guzman y Gomez (ASX:GYG)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Uranium miner <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/paladin-energy-pdn\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paladin Energy (ASX:PDN)<\/a> is a probable S&amp;P\/ASX 100 inclusion, at the expense of the hapless <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/amp-amp\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AMP (ASX:AMP).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The bourse will announce the rebalance on June 5.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Healthcare valuations are compelling, says Wilsons<\/p>\n<p>After a \u201cchallenging period\u201d for healthcare, valuations have become \u201cincreasingly attractive\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>So says Canaccord-owned Wilsons Advisory, which notes the ASX 100 healthcare stocks trade at two-decade lows.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost companies are also trading at multi-year low earnings multiples and well below historical averages, despite generally maintaining compelling growth outlooks\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The February 2026 reporting season, \u201cexhibited a wide dispersion of outcomes, both in earnings delivery relative to market expectations and subsequent share price performance\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts have pared their earnings expectations for \u201cindex heavyweights\u201d such as CSL, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/cochlear-coh\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cochlear (ASX:COH)<\/a> , <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/sigma-healthcare-sig\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sigma Healthcare (ASX:SIG)<\/a> and Pro Medicus.<\/p>\n<p>Wilsons notes pockets of strength, such as sleep apnoea plays <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/resmed-rmd\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ResMed (ASX:RMD)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/fisher-paykel-healthcare-fph\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fisher &amp; Paykel Healthcare (ASX:FPH)<\/a> . These stocks remains in \u201congoing earnings upgrade cycles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cutting to the chase, <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/ansell-ann\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ansell (ASX:ANN)<\/a> and CSL look to be the \u2018cheapest\u2019 health care stocks. They trade on forward price earnings (PE) multiples of 13.6 and 13.7 times respectively.<\/p>\n<p>But relative to companies\u2019 average PE multiples over the last five years, CSL looks to be the \u2018cheapest\u2019. The stock trades on a 54% discount to this historic norm.<\/p>\n<p>Pro Medicus and Cochlear are on hefty PE discounts of 41% and 42% respectively.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But is CSL cheap for a reason?<\/p>\n<p>The $68 billion prince of plasma is safe in the ranks of the ASX 200, but research house Morningstar warns of \u201cstructural\u201d margin pressures.<\/p>\n<p>CSL\u2019s half year numbers showed its gross margin on immunoglobulin products \u2013 a key category \u2013 fell 6 percentage points year-on-year, to 57%.<\/p>\n<p>CSL\u2019s overall plasma margins grew 10 basis points to 51%, but Morningstar opines this was not as strong as expected.<\/p>\n<p>The firm lowers its gross margin expectation to 52%, from 58% previously.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe now expect minimal gross margin expansion as we think most [of CSL\u2019s vaunted] cost savings will be offset by price competition on industry efficiency gains.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some investors fret about the emergence of newer therapies. This could leave CSL \u201coverinvested\u201d in plasma collection and fractionation capacity.<\/p>\n<p>CSL\u2019s haemophilia franchise faces competitive pressure from Roche\u2019s drug Hemlibra, which offers more convenient delivery.<\/p>\n<p>However, Morningstar is bullish on overall market demand for immunoglobulins and \u201cplasma market resilience\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The firm cuts its \u201cfair value\u201d estimate of the stock by 22%, to $210.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s still almost 50% above the stock\u2019s current value and pretty much in line with other broker appraisals.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Intelicare beds down $8.5m nursing home deal<\/p>\n<p>Perth-based nursing home IT provider <a href=\"https:\/\/stockhead.com.au\/company\/intelicare-icr\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">InteliCare (ASX:ICR)<\/a> is today\u2019s healthcare hero after signing its biggest client deal to date.<\/p>\n<p>The $8.5 million, five-year \u201clandmark contract and partnership\u201d is with Victorian nursing home operator, Mecwacare.<\/p>\n<p>Mecwacare will use Intelicare\u2019s AI-enabled nursing call platform and other services across its 22 facilities and 1600 residents.<\/p>\n<p>The deal follows the success of a pilot program at Mecwacare\u2019s Trescowthick Centre in Melbourne, which \u201cmet or exceeded\u201d all eleven success criteria.<\/p>\n<p>Intelicare executive director Tim Chapman dubs the deal as a \u201cdefining milestone\u201d for the company.<\/p>\n<p>The company pitches the deal as a strategic partnership, by which the parties will collaborate on \u201cfurther innovation and development initiatives\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Intelicare shares spiked up to 60% before profit takers swooped.<\/p>\n<p>\ufeff\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Telix and Pro Medicus are in the firing line in the lead up to the next index reweighting.&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":535866,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[34],"tags":[64,63,137,500],"class_list":["post-535865","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-healthcare","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-health","tag-healthcare"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/535865","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=535865"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/535865\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/535866"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=535865"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=535865"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=535865"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
