The pool of quality and productive players in MLB<\/a> free agency has dwindled drastically. At this point, in mid-March, MLB teams are gearing towards the long season, but there are still names out there that are looking for new organizations for 2026, and could provide some value to a roster. The Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> have been active in MLB free agency all offseason, and who is to say they are done making moves?<\/p>\n

One potential name that\u2019s been floated around this week is 12-year MLB veteran Tommy Pham<\/a>. Pham\u2019s market likely isn\u2019t that vast, but it\u2019s fair to note that he did play in 120 games last season for the Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a>, who lost Andrew McCutchen<\/a> to free agency just a couple of weeks ago.<\/p>\n

In a recent post by FanSided.com\u2019s Chris Landers, the MLB<\/a> writer predicts where all the top free agents will sign (there aren\u2019t many left), and predicts that the Blue Jays will land Tommy Pham:<\/p>\n

\u201cA change to his contact prescription (no, seriously) did wonders for Pham at the plate last season, and he turned in a quietly productive season after a dreadful start for the Pirates. He\u2019s certainly not an everyday player at this point in his career, but he still has a place in the league as a righty bench bat who won\u2019t kill you in the outfield.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2025, Pham hit .245 with 10 home runs, 52 RBI, and an OPS of .700. Over his 12-year MLB career, he has 149 home runs and an OPS+ of 110. He posted the sixth-highest bWAR (1.0) of his career while with the Pirates last season, so he\u2019s definitely still got some juice left in the tank at 38.<\/p>\n

Tommy Pham is Quite the MLB Veteran.<\/p>\n

The 38-year-old Tommy Pham has played for 1\/3rd of MLB teams. Bounced around the league is an understatement. Pham spent the most seasons (six) with the St. Louis Cardinals<\/a>, but has played for seven different MLB organizations for just one season, and most of those seasons weren\u2019t even a full body of work.<\/p>\n

Pham is also a very *misunderstood* player, as he puts it, but there have been mixed reports about how he acts in the clubhouse.<\/p>\n

He claims to be a ride-or-die type of teammate, but then there are also reports of him getting physical with some players.<\/p>\n

Either way, his fit with the Blue Jays actually isn\u2019t terrible. He\u2019d likely sign for near league minimum, and could be a bench or platoon option for manager John Schneider.<\/p>\n
