The sparkle and roughness of Euphoria are now a deal outside of the show too. The relationship between the two stars, Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney, is intensifying. This is happening at a time when everyone is waiting for the season to start.

It started with people talking quietly about problems on the set of Euphoria. Now it is out in the open. It looks like the cast is split. People who work in the industry and people who watch the show on the media are talking about the problems between Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney. They are saying that the two stars are not getting along because they do not agree on some things. This is causing a lot of trouble for the makers of euphoria.

The Promotional Snub Heard Round the World

Initially, the marketing team attempted to project an image of total cast harmony. However, the atmosphere during the promotional photo shoot turned toxic. The tension between the stars eventually became too volatile to hide. It didn’t quite work out.

The Group Dynamic: A behind-the-scenes video of Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, and Maude Apatow showed them having fun and taking pictures together like they were a team. The thing is, Sydney Sweeney was not in those group pictures. Her promotional photos were all shots.

The Fan Response: People in the media quickly noticed that Sweeney was left out. Fans started guessing that the core four, Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, and Maude Apatow had basically left Sweeney out of their knit group. Fans, on X ( Twitter), were talking about it, saying the core four had frozen Sydney Sweeney out.

A fan wrote, “I love how Sydney’s not in the girls’ shot.” Another’s remark read, “The less Sydney, the better.”

A Clash of Political and Social Values

At the heart of the messy beef lies a fundamental difference in public identity and political values. These two actresses represent two very different versions of the modern American star, and those worlds are currently colliding.

Sweeney appeared in an American Eagle ad, which got praise from Donald Trump

Zendaya’s Stance: As an executive producer on the show, Zendaya maintains a carefully curated image rooted in progressive activism. She has been vocal about her opposition to Donald Trump and her commitment to social justice.

Sweeney’s Controversy: Sweeney has faced a different kind of spotlight. From family members wearing Blue Lives Matter-themed attire to her recent American Eagle campaign being publicly praised by Trump, she became a polarising figure for the Gen-Z audience.

The Press Embargo: Reports suggest Zendaya is now refusing to participate in joint interviews or attend red-carpet moments with Sweeney. Furthermore, Zendaya reportedly fears that if she appears alongside Sweeney, it will be seen as an endorsement of Sweeney’s controversial brand

The Personal Toll: Rumors and Rivalries

In addition to the political divide, the friction has reportedly turned deeply personal. Tabloid rumours have fueled the fire, suggesting that social interactions at industry parties crossed a line.

The Tom Holland Factor: Most notably, unverified reports claim that Sweeney’s flirty demeanor around Zendaya’s fiancé, Tom Holland, sparked a permanent frost between the two stars. This perceived lack of boundaries reportedly ended their friendship for good.

The Professional Hierarchy: Simultaneously, a professional rivalry has taken hold. Zendaya’s star power now includes Oscar buzz and fashion icon status. Meanwhile, Sweeney’s rapid rise as a dominant it-girl has created a competitive atmosphere. The Euphoria set simply can no longer contain these two massive egos.

A Season Divided by Design

The most concrete evidence of the feud lies in the structure of Euphoria Season 3 itself. The production team reportedly went to extreme lengths to ensure the two stars never had to be in the same room.

Siloed Storylines: The script utilises a five-year time jump to keep the characters geographically separated.

Separate Worlds: Zendaya’s character, Rue, is filmed primarily on location in Mexico. whereas Sweeney’s character, Cassie, remains in East Highland, now married to Nate Jacobs and navigating a career on OnlyFans.

Zero Interaction: Sources close to the production confirm that Rue and Cassie share zero scenes this season. This creative choice allowed the actresses to film their entire arcs without a single day of overlapping schedules.

As the April 12 premiere date looms, the silence from both camps is deafening. Neither actress has released a statement to debunk the rumors, and the siloed nature of the new season suggests the bridge has been burned beyond repair.

While Euphoria has always thrived on chaos, this off-screen drama may be the one thing the show cannot survive. Whether the two can eventually reconcile remains to be seen, but for now, the divide between Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney is the biggest plot point of the year.
