It\u2019s a little bit confusing with his style, his [heavy] topspin forehand, super high. And then the backhand, really flat and really low. Sometimes it\u2019s tricky to play against him. I\u2019m finding the right shot. I played well. I played solid. I played aggressive when I could. The first set ended with three breaks of serve across the final four games. Norrie then raced to a 2-0 lead in the second set before Alcaraz responded by tallying four consecutive games. The 22-year-old created 10 break chances, converting four of them, according to Infosys ATP Stats.<\/p>\n<p>Producing a mix of ferocious baseline hitting with delicate drop shots and superb net play, the World No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings converted his fourth match point to advance after one hour and 33 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennis is about choosing the right shot in about half a second,&#8221; said Alcaraz, who finished with 19 forehand winners. &#8220;Sometimes I just miss the shot because I didn\u2019t choose the right one. In my mind, I have like seven, five options, sometimes it\u2019s tricky for me to pick the right one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With his win, Alcaraz became the third man to reach five consecutive Indian Wells semi-finals, alongside countryman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atptour.com\/en\/players\/rafael-nadal\/n409\/overview\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rafael Nadal<\/a> (2006-13) and rival <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atptour.com\/en\/players\/novak-djokovic\/d643\/overview\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Novak Djokovic<\/a> (2011-16). <\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atptour.com\/en\/news\/atp-number-one-club\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1768144283_348_atp-no-1-club-banner-article.jpg\" alt=\"\u201cATP\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz leads Norrie 6-3 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series. The 26-time tour-level titlist will look to improve upon his 6-2 record against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atptour.com\/en\/players\/daniil-medvedev\/mm58\/overview\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Daniil Medvedev<\/a> in the semi-finals.
