Australia’s most beloved chocolates<\/a> have been revealed after thousands were surveyed on what has them racing to the supermarket treat aisle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Consumer group Canstar<\/a> split chocolate into three categories: bars, blocks, and boxes.<\/p>\n

Respondents were asked to rate their favourite on value for money, taste, packaging, texture and variety.<\/p>\n

Whittaker\u2019s and Cadbury Roses claimed the top spots in their sectors, while a dark horse was crowned the best bar.<\/p>\n

Turkish Delight can be a divisive chocolate, but it was named the best bar.<\/p>\n

Aussies seem settled in their favourite rankings, with the 2026 win Whittaker’s third in a row.<\/p>\n

The win for Roses is also a second.<\/p>\n

Whittaker’s can be found in Coles, Woolworths, IGA and Harris Farm and stand out from the rest of what’s on offer with its iconic gold packaging.<\/p>\n

It has flavours like peanut butter, coconut, dark almond, creamy caramel, and hokey pokey crunch, with 200-250 gram blocks costing around $9.<\/p>\n

Roses chocolate boxes come in two main sizes, 150 gram and 380 gram, and range in price from $10 to $20.<\/p>\n

They feature a range of Cadbury chocolates, including:<\/p>\n

Turkish Delight might come as a surprise to some shoppers, and it faced some stiff competition in Canstar’s rankings.<\/p>\n

It received five stars out of five in overall satisfaction, as well as in taste, texture, and packaging.<\/p>\n

The only category it fell down in was value for money, which it received three stars, as a 50 gram bar costs $3 at Coles and Woolworths.<\/p>\n

It can be as low as $1.50 when it’s on special.<\/p>\n

The other chocolate bar that came close to Turkish Delight was Cherry Ripe, which received five stars in taste, texture, and packaging.<\/p>\n

But it only copped four stars for overall satisfaction, and three in value for money.<\/p>\n

Cadbury’s Boost was the only other bar to receive five stars in overall satisfaction, but had three stars in every other category.<\/p>\n

Aussies’ love affair with chocolate revealed<\/p>\n

Canstar’s survey revealed how much of a staple chocolate can be for some Aussies, with one in 10 eating it everyday.<\/p>\n

Nearly a third of respondents (30 per cent) said having a few choccies “makes everything better”, and another 30 per cent will always keep a stash of chocolate at home.<\/p>\n

A cheeky 11 per cent of Aussies said they hide their chocolate from the people they live with.<\/p>\n

Milk chocolate was the standout flavour out of the three main types with 62 per cent of the vote, with 30 per cent liking dark and only 8 per cent preferring white above the rest.<\/p>\n

But the cost of chocolate has soared massively in recently due to rising cocoa prices and 70 per cent of Aussies are buying the treat less frequently.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe increase in cocoa costs has clearly been felt at the checkout, and shoppers are responding in practical ways,” Canstar spokesperson Eden Radford said.<\/p>\n

“They\u2019re being more selective, price\u2011conscious, and strategic about when and how they buy.<\/p>\n

“This is a great example of how Aussie consumers are becoming increasingly savvy at the supermarket, while still getting the treats they love.”<\/p>\n
