Arch Manning may be viewed as a potential top pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, but at least one prominent voice believes the Texas quarterback is unlikely to land with the New York Jets if the franchise earns the No. 1 selection.<\/p>\n

Following the first wave of NFL free agency, the Jets have emerged as betting favorites to finish with the league\u2019s worst record next season and secure the top pick in the 2027 draft. That possibility has added speculation about New York selecting Manning, the nephew of former NFL stars Peyton and Eli Manning.<\/p>\n

However, longtime New York radio host Mike Francesa said on his podcast this week that he does not believe the Manning family would allow Arch to play for the Jets.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m telling you right now, they will manipulate the draft,\u201d Francesa said<\/a>. \u201cThey will never let him get drafted by the Jets. You can take that to the bank.\u201d<\/p>\n

Francesa explained the Manning family\u2019s history with the draft process. In 2004, Eli Manning famously refused to play for the San Diego Chargers after they held the No. 1 overall pick. The Chargers selected Manning anyway before trading him to the New York Giants shortly afterward for quarterback Philip Rivers.<\/p>\n

The Jets\u2019 recent instability has similar circumstances. Team owner Woody Johnson has overseen years of organizational turnover, and questions remain about the team\u2019s long-term direction despite changes at coach and quarterback. They added Geno Smith for his second stint with the franchise this week.<\/p>\n

While the 2027 draft remains far away, Francesa believes if the Jets hold the top pick, Manning may find a way to avoid them. Either staying at Texas or falling back, we’ll see what happens.<\/p>\n
