A cyclist has been killed in a crash with a car towing a caravan at Whyalla in regional South Australia.<\/p>\n
Police said the 76-year-old man was hit on Saturday morning at the intersection of Farrell Street and McBryde Terrace.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were called to the spot about 9:25am, following reports a Ford station wagon with a caravan had collided with a rider.<\/p>\n
“[The] local man was taken to hospital where he passed away,” police said.<\/p>\n
Major Crash investigators attended, with police appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.<\/p>\n
The man’s death is the 22nd on the state’s roads this year.<\/p>\n
It follows a fatal crash involving an 18-year-old driver at Angle Vale north of Adelaide on Friday.<\/p>\n
Police said the Toyota ute, which was towing a trailer, hit a guard barrier and pole on the Northern Expressway, near the Two Wells Road exit.<\/p>\n
“Despite the best efforts of paramedics and fire fighters at the scene, the driver and sole occupant, an 18-year-old man from Stockwell, sadly died,” police said.<\/p>\n
