At least, in the Players Championship.<\/p>\n<p>There are plenty of recreational golfers who can probably relate to Hoge\u2019s struggle at this difficult Pete Dye par 4. But you don\u2019t see PGA Tour winners make quintuple bogeys often. Hoge was playing good golf at one under through six holes and even for the tournament when he got to No. 7 during his second round. But things quickly got away from him as you will see in the following montage of shots clipped by Fried Egg Golf\u2019s social media manager Austin Sapin.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Tom Hoge&#8217;s quintuple on the 7th had pretty much everything. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OEkjx0uQzn\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/OEkjx0uQzn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Austin Sapin (@AustinSapin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AustinSapin\/status\/2032506898570780722?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">March 13, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see, Hoge found the water with his tee shot then topped his third after dropping. He took off his shoes to play an awkward fourth and hit a shank. Then after a couple poor iron shots, he hit a great bunker shot, but missed a three-footer. Add it all up and that\u2019s a nine. Just a total disaster.<\/p>\n<p>Even crazier? Hoge has actually played well at TPC Sawgrass. He has a pair of T-3s at the Players (2023 and 2025) and he entered the week with the current streak of most consecutive cuts made in the event at seven.<\/p>\n<p>But that streak ended on Friday, because things didn\u2019t get much better after No. 7 as Hoge added a couple more bogeys and a double on his way to shooting 80. On the bright side, well, um, so there\u2019s not much bright side here.
