Rules for Radio 1\u2019s Big Weekend Blue Peter Competition<\/p>\n
1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Radio 1\u2019s Big Weekend Blue Peter Competition\u00a0(the “Competition”) is open to all UK residents (including residents of the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and children of UK armed services overseas) between 6 and 12 years of age on Wednesday 15th\u00a0April 2026 (the closing date of the competition), except the children or close relatives of BBC Group employees, or any persons closely connected with Blue Peter, or BBC Radio 1. The BBC reserves the right to request proof of age for entrants as well as a parent’s or guardian’s permission to enter.\u00a0<\/p>\n
2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To enter the Competition entrants must:<\/p>\n
Log into My Blue Peter which can be accessed from the\u00a0Blue Peter website.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n Answer three multiple choice questions to test your Radio 1\u2019s Big Weekend knowledge.<\/p>\n Submit via My Blue Peter\u00a0<\/p>\n 3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Entry is online only, with My Blue Peter which can be accessed from the\u00a0Blue Peter<\/a>\u00a0website.<\/a>\u00a0You will need a BBC account to enter, which means you have a username and password you can use to sign in to the CBBC website. To get a BBC account, a parent or guardian\u00a0clicks on any ‘Register’ link<\/a>\u00a0and follows the instructions. Postal or email entries cannot be accepted.<\/p>\n 4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Only one entry per person may be submitted. No joint entries will be allowed. If more than one entry is received from an entrant, we will accept the first entry received and disregard the others.<\/p>\n 5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0The entrant and parent\/guardian will need to submit all the information requested in My Blue Peter and as set out in the Privacy Notice including a telephone number and\/or email which must allow us to contact the parent\/guardian.\u00a0 Entrants will need their parent or guardian permission to enter the Competition and ensure that they (the parent \/ guardian) have read the Rules and Privacy Notice.<\/p>\n 6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Entries must be RECEIVED no later than 6pm\u00a0on Wednesday 15th\u00a0April 2026. Late entries will be disqualified. The BBC cannot take any responsibility for any technical failure or malfunction which may result in an entry being delayed, or not properly registered or recorded.<\/p>\n 7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0From all correct entries, ten entries and standbys will be selected randomly; ten entries will be put forward to the verification stage.\u00a0<\/p>\n 8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0The Blue Peter Team will contact the 10 selected entries\u2019 parents or guardians between Friday 17th\u00a0April and Friday 24th\u00a0April by telephone to check eligibility.\u00a0\u00a0If we are unable to make contact by Wednesday 22nd\u00a0April via telephone or email, Blue Peter reserves the right to contact a standby.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0If an entrant is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made to do so, on Friday 24th\u00a0April at 10am they will be disqualified from the competition.<\/p>\n The team will arrange a video call (we will ask you if you need any accessibility adjustments) the video call will be recorded, and the Blue Peter team will speak to the parent or guardian and then speak to the child.\u00a0 The conversation will be informal and friendly; it will be recorded so that a short clip can be shared with the judges.\u00a0<\/p>\n The conversation will help us to judge:<\/p>\n An interest in Radio 1\u2019s Big Weekend and Blue Peter<\/p>\n An interest in taking part in filming and seeing behind the scenes<\/p>\n Confidence in communicating your interest in music and Radio 1\u2019s Big Weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n 9.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0The judging stage will be carried out by a judging panel of representatives from Blue Peter (including Ellen Evans, Editor of Blue Peter as Head Judge) The panel will choose one winner and 1 back-up entry as standby.<\/p>\n 10.\u00a0 The prizes consist of:\u00a0<\/p>\n 1st Prize: 1 Winner<\/p>\n You (and one parent or guardian) will have the opportunity to visit Radio 1\u2019s Big Weekend at Herrington Country Park in Sunderland. 23rd\/24th May 2026.<\/p>\n 2 x General Admission tickets (child and parent or guardian) for Radio 1\u2019s Big Weekend on Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n You will get a backstage tour which you will attend with the Blue Peter team.<\/p>\n You will receive an Orange Blue Peter competition winner\u2019s badge.<\/p>\n Top Runners up (x 9)<\/p>\n You will receive an Orange Blue Peter competition winner\u2019s badge.<\/p>\n We reserve the right to change the prize due to editorial\/production considerations including any restrictions which may be imposed or extended due to unforeseeable circumstances.<\/p>\n 11.\u00a0 By submitting an entry for the Competition, the entrant\u2019s parent\/guardian are deemed to have given permission for their child\/ward to be filmed during their time on location by the Blue Peter Production team, BBC Studios and production partners in all media and platforms, including television, print and internet, for all purposes as it wishes, in line with the BBC Child Protection Policy to prevent jigsaw identification of any entrant.\u00a0<\/p>\n 12.\u00a0 The BBC will obtain an appropriate child license for the winner. A licensed chaperone will accompany the child for the filming. The parent\/guardian of the winner will be required to sign contributor release forms on behalf of their child\/ward and allow the BBC to use the contributions in all media for all purposes.<\/p>\n 13.\u00a0 The\u00a0BBC’s conditions on contributions<\/a>\u00a0apply to the Competition Rules and entry is subject to the\u00a0BBC\u2019s Terms of Use.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0The parent or guardian will also need to agree to BBC Radio 1\u2019s Live Events terms as well as the competition rules. The 2025 Event Terms and Conditions are\u00a0HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n 14.\u00a0 Reasonable travel, food, and accommodation costs will be provided by the BBC for the winning child and one parent or guardian to attend the winner\u2019s experience for two nights: Friday 22nd\u00a0May and Saturday 23rd, filming is planned for Saturday 23rd\u00a0and\/or Sunday 24th\u00a0May 2026.<\/p>\n 15.\u00a0 At Blue Peter, we welcome entries from children of all abilities and needs. Our aim is to be inclusive \u2013 please inform us of anything which may require reasonable adjustments to enable you to enter and to fulfil the prize.\u00a0<\/p>\n 16.\u00a0 The prizes will be as stated. The prizes cannot be transferred, and there is no cash alternative.<\/p>\n 17.\u00a0 The competition winner will be notified on Wednesday 29th\u00a0April by telephone, as per the contact details provided in their entry. In the event of a winner being unable to be contacted, after reasonable attempts have been made, or if a winner is found to be in breach of the rules, or fails to take up their prize for any reason including illness, unavailability, problems in having consent for absence from school, licensing difficulties, or problems with obtaining notice from their doctor regarding state of health to participate, the BBC reserves the right to offer the prize to the standby but it is not obliged to do so. If an entrant has not been contacted by Wednesday 29th\u00a0April, unfortunately they are not a competition winner. The 9 Runners-Up will be awarded an Orange Blue Peter competition winner\u2019s badge.<\/p>\n 18.\u00a0 The BBC’s and the judges’ decision as to the winner is final. No correspondence relating to the Competition will be entered into.<\/p>\n 19.\u00a0 Entrants will be expected to take part in post-Competition publicity for the BBC.<\/p>\n 20.\u00a0 The BBC reserves the right to cancel the Competition or change any of these Rules at any stage if deemed necessary in its opinion or if circumstances arise outside of its control. Any such changes will be duly communicated. The BBC cannot be held responsible for any unforeseen events relating to, or the cancellation of any related element of this Competition outside of the control of the BBC. The BBC reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who breaches these Rules, has acted fraudulently in any way or has brought the BBC into disrepute.<\/p>\n 21.\u00a0 The parent\/guardian of an entrant is deemed to have accepted these Rules when giving permission to the entry of the relevant entrant.<\/p>\n 22.\u00a0 If any of the prize details must change, all efforts will be made to fulfil an equivalent experience for the winner.<\/p>\n
