Courtesy of Alamy.<\/p>\n<p>Hulu has reportedly decided not to move forward with its planned part revival\/part sequel series to iconic 1990s show \u201cBuffy the Vampire Slayer\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The star of the 1990s \u201cBuffy\u201d series, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, was slated to return to her Buffy Summers role which would be in a supporting capacity.  Gellar was also set to executive produce.<\/p>\n<p>Now, in a posting on Instagram, Gellar broke the news to fans that Hulu is no longer moving forward on the project after a pilot episode under the helm of \u201cHamnet\u201d director Chloe Zhao was already shot.<\/p>\n<p>Sources for <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/03\/buffy-reboot-dead-sarah-michelle-gellar-hulu-chloe-zhao-1236753736\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Deadline<\/a> call the pilot \u2018not perfect\u2019 and say Zhao may not have been the right fit.  There was talk of reworking the pilot, but Hulu has now opted not to proceed with it.<\/p>\n<p>The streamer is still said to be interested in the Buffy IP and \u201cplans to regroup and mull a possible new incarnation of the beloved franchise\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (\u201cPoker Face\u201d) penned the pilot\u2019s script.
