Every lap is honestly survival for me. I\u2019m not enjoying it at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Red Bulls struggled for pace again on the second race weekend of the season with their new in-house power units backed by Ford having replaced Honda as engine supplier.<\/p>\n<p>They are also clearly far from getting to grips with the new aerodynamic and chassis regulations as Formula 1 enters an era of a 50-50 split between conventional and electrical power.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just very inconsistent. I cannot build a reference in qualifying,\u201d said Verstappen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhatever lap I do, I\u2019m like, that\u2019s it? Can I go four tenths faster? Maybe? Can I go four tenths slower? That\u2019s a big chance as well, because it\u2019s just all over the place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His teammate Isack Hadjar was ninth, having barely scraped into the top-10 shootout in qualifying.<\/p>\n<p>Russell wins Sprint, Piastri 6th | 00:56<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen, who fought back from a qualifying crash in the opening race in Australia last weekend to finish sixth from 20th on the grid, held out little hope he could challenge in Sunday\u2019s race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just incredibly difficult,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI honestly think it\u2019s going to be quite tough tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese Grand Prix gets underway on Sunday at 6pm AEDT.<\/p>\n<p>Follow all the action in our live blog below!
