(ABC News: James Elton)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;We were at the stage where we were handing out cookies from our smoko drum because people hadn&#8217;t had food,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;It&#8217;s all well and good to say &#8216;get 72 hours worth of food together&#8217;, but when Woollies closes before an emergency happens, what are you supposed to do?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Katherine&#8217;s Woolworths re-opened at about 2pm on Monday, roughly 73 hours after it closed due to concerns for staff safety.<\/p>\n<p>Scramble to save items as floodwaters rose<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Housemates Maggie Nicholls, Grace Kennedy, and Georgie Moss had floodwaters rise around their house on Lindsay Street on Saturday afternoon, inundating the ground floor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;About midday we went for a walk and were feeling optimistic, [we thought] &#8216;let&#8217;s go check out the rest of the town&#8217;, and we came back and had to walk through hip-deep water,&#8221; Ms Moss said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The water flooded their downstairs bedroom and laundry.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We started pulling mattresses out and all my clothes, it was really chaotic,&#8221;  she said.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Three young woman sit on a verandah\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/4e6e32dd664f32e930d89a2faf5db734.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Georgie Moss, Grace Kennedy and Maggie Nicholls saw the ground floor of their home inundated by flooding.
