Amazon didn\u2019t get any nominations, to which he screams \u201cWHY CAN\u2019T THE WEBSITE I BUY TOILET PAPER FROM WIN AWARDS?\u201d The joke got vanishing few laughs, but I liked it.<\/p>\n

Arguably the best joke of the night, about Ryan Coogler refusing to become a voting member of the Academy because he doesn\u2019t like judging his colleagues. \u201cBut the rest of you pricks don\u2019t seem to mind it.\u201d<\/p>\n

O\u2019Brien is doing a great job so far. The monologue is a lot more pointed than last year\u2019s \u2013 he basically just yelled at Ted Sarandos for killing the theatrical experience, and wrote off last year\u2019s Oscar winners as being minor \u2013 and he seems a lot more relaxed, too. Am I \u2026 enjoying the Oscars? This is unprecedented.<\/p>\n

The children chase him on to the stage, and the ceremony begins proper. He is, he says, the last human host of the Oscars. And his first big joke is about opera and ballet, so well done me.<\/p>\n

We begin with a short film of Conan dressed up as the woman from Weapons, or \u201cBetty Davies with lupus\u201d as he puts it.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s being chased by lots of children, through all the main films of the year. He runs around an F1 track. He plays a bit of ping pong. He travels back to Elizabethan England and then jumps out of a car. He turns up, animated, in KPop Demon Hunters and speaks Norwegian to Stellan Skarsgard. And Sinners<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This is spectacular. I kind of want to just watch this for four hours.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s all white on the night for Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet. The suit \u2013 made by Sarah Burton at Givenchy \u2013 feels a little sci-fi, and not at all the world of Marty Supreme, which is set in the 40s, and has had a signature colour of orange. If the actor infamously leaned into that, with him and his partner Kylie Jenner wearing the colour for the film\u2019s premiere, he\u2019s gone for a blank canvas here. Add the shades and shoes that look like they could easily stand up to 10k steps a day and he could be a futuristic overlord. Maybe that\u2019s his next role?<\/p>\n
