Earning its first Mid-American Conference loss of the season, NIU women\u2019s tennis (15-4, 1-1 MAC) dropped a 4-3 match to the University of Toledo Rockets (7-6, 2-0 MAC) on Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite a loss at the top doubles court, the Huskies narrowly took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3.\u00a0<\/p>\n

NIU senior Isabella Righi<\/a> and sophomore Lucia Yecora<\/a> took a dominant 6-1 victory at No. 2, before senior Jenna Horne<\/a> and sophomore Irmak Budak<\/a> clinched the point with a 6-4 win at No. 3.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Huskies saw victories in just two singles matches, conceding four as the Rockets took the team win.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After sweeping a 6-0 first set, Budak dropped two straight to Toledo sophomore JJ Scholten for the loss at No. 1\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a three-set victory, Ninova defeated freshman Anastasia Akuginova, moving to 15-4 in singles matches on the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Extending her win streak to 12 matches, freshman Rebeca Garcia Miralles<\/a> took down junior Gaby Rondon in 7-5, 6-2 sets.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Losses at No. 2 and No. 3 put the Huskies down, leaving the match up to Horne at No. 5 singles.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After a first-set defeat to sophomore Annika Munson, Horne rallied for a 6-4 second frame, but was unable to maintain momentum in the third set.\u00a0<\/p>\n
