{"id":544872,"date":"2026-03-16T22:00:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T22:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/544872\/"},"modified":"2026-03-16T22:00:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T22:00:08","slug":"nccu-announces-change-in-womens-basketball-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/544872\/","title":{"rendered":"NCCU Announces Change in Women\u2019s Basketball Leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n                    &#13;<br \/>\n                        Story Links&#13;<br \/>\n                        &#13;<\/p>\n<p>                     DURHAM, N.C. \u2014 The North Carolina Central University Department of Athletics has announced that head women&#8217;s basketball coach <a href=\"https:\/\/nccueaglepride.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/coaches\/terrence-baxter\/1205\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"1205\" target=\"_blank\">Terrence Baxter<\/a> will not return.<\/p>\n<p>Baxter recently completed his third season as head coach and fifth overall season with the Eagles. During his tenure, he helped guide the program through a period of growth and competitiveness, including a historic 2023-24 campaign that produced the program&#8217;s first winning season in the Division I era.<\/p>\n<p>The Eagles won 16 games that season and earned a trip to the semifinals of the MEAC Tournament.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are thankful to Coach Baxter for his service, leadership and commitment to North Carolina Central University and our student-athletes,&#8221; Director of Athletics Dr. Louis &#8220;Skip&#8221; Perkins said. &#8220;We appreciate his contributions to our women&#8217;s basketball program and wish him continued success in the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This past season, the Eagles finished 9-20 overall and 5-9 in MEAC play, advancing to the conference tournament quarterfinals.
