{"id":545540,"date":"2026-03-17T05:31:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T05:31:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/545540\/"},"modified":"2026-03-17T05:31:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T05:31:09","slug":"new-network-wide-role-for-capital-radios-aaron-chilcott","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/545540\/","title":{"rendered":"New network-wide role for Capital Radio&#8217;s Aaron Chilcott"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                                    <img src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Screenshot-3969.png\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Less than a year after undergoing <a href=\"https:\/\/radiotoday.com.au\/being-afraid-wasnt-an-option-3ggs-aaron-chilcott-undergoes-major-brain-surgery\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">life-saving brain surgery,<\/a> Aaron Chilcott has achieved a long-held dream, taking on a new, network-wide role with the Capital Radio Network.<\/p>\n<p>Aaron is now hosting a night-time show across all Forever Classic stations: 6iX Perth, XLFM Snowy Mountains, 2CA Canberra, GNFM Goulburn and his home turf \u2013 3GG in Gippsland.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to 3GG Afternoons, Aaron had already been hosting 6iX Nights since starting at the network in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The new gig expands on this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019ll be giveaways and interviews, and we\u2019re planning some listener interaction too as we get up to speed,\u201d Aaron tells Radio Today.<\/p>\n<p>The network show ticks not one, but two radio bucket-list items.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA couple of my goals, early in my radio career, were to one day host a night show, and to be an announcer for a capital city radio station. So, to have the chance to achieve those things now is amazing. Especially when it\u2019s a show going out across some of my favourite regions in Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s got me just as excited as I was when I first started in radio all those years ago!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-140167 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Screenshot-3970.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"930\" height=\"769\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>In May last year, Aaron <a href=\"https:\/\/radiotoday.com.au\/being-afraid-wasnt-an-option-3ggs-aaron-chilcott-undergoes-major-brain-surgery\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">underwent a major operation<\/a> to remove a cyst from his brain.<\/p>\n<p>Aaron \u2013 previously an announcer and Operations Manager with the ACE Radio Network \u2013 had been having intense headaches and problems with his vision.<\/p>\n<p>Doctors located the cyst in the middle of his brain, causing a potentially deadly build-up of fluid.<\/p>\n<p>At that time, Aaron said he had no fear about what lay ahead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just knew I had to get this thing cut out so that my life could return to normal \u2026 so that I can keep being a dad to my amazing kids, to continue being a husband to my incredible wife, and overall being a functioning member of society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to today, and everything is looking good on the health front.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve had follow-up scans, and the surgeon has confirmed that the cyst is not growing back,\u201d Aaron says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think there\u2019ll be one more appointment with him eventually, and then he said I\u2019m fully discharged from the outpatient service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aaron has now been in radio for more than <a href=\"https:\/\/radiotoday.com.au\/aaron-chilcott-celebrates-20-years-in-radio-with-new-role-at-3gg\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">20 years.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A Gippsland boy through and through, he loves living, working and raising his kids in the same region where he grew up.<\/p>\n<p>And if Aaron\u2019s radio future hadn\u2019t been written in the stars, it was certainly written in the little keyring with a built-in AM radio which he used to carry around with him as a child.<\/p>\n<p>The only station it could pick up? 3GG.<\/p>\n<p>Images supplied.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Less than a year after undergoing life-saving brain surgery, Aaron Chilcott has achieved a long-held dream, taking on&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":545541,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[28],"tags":[270159,270160,245621,270161,270162,64,63,270163,134,270164,136,270165],"class_list":["post-545540","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-music","tag-2ca","tag-3gg","tag-6ix","tag-aaron-chilcott","tag-ace-radio-network","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-capital-radio-network","tag-entertainment","tag-gnfm","tag-music","tag-xlfm"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/545540","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=545540"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/545540\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/545541"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=545540"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=545540"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=545540"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
