UK pop star Robbie Williams is returning to his day job, and Australian stadiums, for a mammoth BRITPOP tour in November.<\/p>\n
After commanding the zeigiest with his brutal, soul-baring Netflix series and then dividing opinion with the bonkers biopic Better Man, where he was depicted by a CGI monkey, Williams made an emphatic return to the charts in January with his 13th studio album BRITPOP.<\/p>\n
The album was due to be released last October but Williams postponed it to avoid going up against Taylor Swift\u2019s The Life of a Showgirl in the race for a No. 1 album debut.<\/p>\n
When Williams suddenly released his record in January, it soared to the top in the UK, with the \u2018Angels\u2019 star eclipsing the Beatles for the most No. 1 albums in British chart history.<\/p>\n
He was also tapped by Sharon Osbourne to pay tribute to her late husband Ozzy with a performance of his hit \u2018No More Tears\u2019 at the recent Brit awards.<\/p>\n
The 52-year-old entertainer was last in Australia in February 2025 for the AACTA Awards on the Gold Coast where Better Man won the Best Film gong.<\/p>\n
Williams, who has been commanding stadiums on Australian tours for more than two decades, has always said the country is a safe haven for him compared to the UK.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just think Australia is a place where my shoulders can drop,\u201d he said from London.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know, like, I\u2019m constantly scanning for danger, wherever I go. And I always have, since I was a kid; I always think that I had this inbuilt sixth sense, but actually what was happening was just I\u2019m on high alert all the time.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd in Australia, I get to be around what feels like are like-minded and like-spirited people. And I can just drop my shoulders. It feels like a coming home.\u201d<\/p>\n
Williams may be the only person in the world who gets off a long flight to Australia and actually looks forward to going through \u201cpassport control.\u201d<\/p>\n
But as he said, being Robbie Williams the Pop Star has its privileges.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I\u2019m excited just to get off the plane and walk through passport control and feel the energy of the person on passport control and know where I am and who I\u2019m dealing with. And know that I\u2019m in a safe place,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, normally I get off a plane and then three people from the airline walk me through and then I get to go around a line \u2026 yeah, membership does have its privilege and so it should. That\u2019s what I was hoping for when I left school.\u201d<\/p>\n
The BRITPOP Tour will kick off at Adelaide Oval on November 7 and continues to Melbourne\u2019s Marvel Stadium on November 11, Sydney\u2019s Accor Stadium on November 14, Newcastle\u2019s McDonald Jones Stadium on November 17 and Brisbane\u2019s Suncorp Stadium on November 20.<\/p>\n
