One of two NRL coaches currently in the firing line (the other being Cowboys coach Todd Payten), there have been growing calls from fans for Seibold to be sacked after back-to-back defeats to begin the season.

After a messy 2025, which saw the departures of club captain Daly Cherry-Evans and CEO Tony Mestrov, the Sea Eagles are once again back in the news cycle for all the wrong reasons.

Despite having a roster built of State of Origin and international representatives such as Tom Trbojevic, Tolu Koula and Haumole Olaka’atu, they have been unable to translate this to success on the field, having gone down to the Raiders and last year’s wooden spooners, Newcastle.

Speaking on NRL 360, Code Sports’ David Riccio stated that Seibold remains safe in the head coaching role for now, but needs to turn things around quickly.

Has Seibs run his course at Manly? | 01:36

“He is (safe) for now. I’m getting inundated by Manly fans who want Seibs gone. They want change…I haven’t heard any animosity at this point in time towards Seibs,” Riccio said.

“The Manly Sea Eagles management are prepared to dig himself out of here and give him some more time.”

Adding to the conversation, Fox League’s Paul Crawley said the Sea Eagles next match against the Roosters is a must-win contest.

Should they lose the club might be forced to move swiftly.

“You’ve got two coaches (Seibold and Payten) that are walking the plank at the moment,” Crawley said.

“They are in a predicament with the coaches that are out there and about the club that moves will secure their future, and the other one will be left to worry about what will happen.

“That Manly roster, even though it looks good. I think they’ve got some really tough decisions that are coming their way…there’s going to be have some tough conversations at the club.

“And as for the Manly crowd, they’ve now lost two home games. Lost one in golden point and absolutely embarrassed by the Knights and after the bye.

Is it ‘career suicide’ to drop Jurbo? | 02:56

“Their next home game is against the Roosters in DCE’s return game.

“Because you can sit back and give your coach time if you think it’s going to work it’s way out or you make a decision on who you’re going to go for.”

Brad Arthur, Dean Young, Jason Demetriou, Michael Ennis and Willie Peters are all potential candidates who could be brought in to replace Seibold.

But with the PNG Chiefs and (possibly) North Queensland Cowboys needing a new coach, the Sea Eagles will need to act quickly if they want their primary replacement.

“Let’s say if Willie Peters was to be the person that you wanted your club to go for and you have the Cowboys sitting up there who, in weeks to come, may be looking for a new coach,” Crawley added.

“Then you have the PNG Chiefs coming in and his name has been floated there. Seriously, this is the predictament for both the Sea Eagles and Cowboys.”

But Riccio believes that if he is sacked, it pretty much means “their season is over”.

“If they move on Seibold now, there’s season over,” Riccio said.

Braith Anasta added, “It’s a hard one but I think they would have to wait another couple of weeks but if he continues on they can’t wait past another week.”

[568
64,63,761,762,158,85
post-547228","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-nrl","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-national-rugby-league","tag-nationalrugbyleague","tag-nrl","tag-sports
["GET
