Credit: BOM<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cTropical Cyclone Narelle was named on Tuesday afternoon in the Coral Sea, becoming the 10th named tropical cyclone within the Australian region this season,\u201d senior meteorologist Jonathan How said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cIt is moving towards the northern Queensland coast where it is expected to cross on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cAhead of this crossing, a tropical cyclone watch has been issued for communities between Lockhart River and Port Douglas and then also inland, including Cowen, Cooktown and Woodjill Woodjill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Currently a category 2 system, Narelle is located in the northern Coral Sea about 1,100km to the northeast of Cairns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1n6q21n-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">It will continue to approach the coast and further strengthen into Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/095f4b2b869ba1c5a97e26045041abe39421e2fa-16x9-x0y0w1920h1080.jpg\" alt=\"Premier David Crisafulli has warned remote communities to be prepared.\" class=\"css-16r7l45-StyledImage en5ut4d0\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"1080\" width=\"1920\"\/>Premier David Crisafulli has warned remote communities to be prepared.
