{"id":550615,"date":"2026-03-19T13:24:19","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T13:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/550615\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T13:24:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T13:24:19","slug":"randle-called-up-as-injury-sub-for-ex-f1-hopeful","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/550615\/","title":{"rendered":"Randle called up as injury sub for ex-F1 hopeful"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THOMAS Randle will race in the 2026 GT World Challenge Australia season-opener next week at Phillip Island as cover for Alex Peroni.<\/p>\n<p>The latter \u2013 a podium-getter in FIA Formula 3 and Indy Lights \u2013 has been ruled out while recovering from injury, paving the way for Randle to substitute as Mark Rosser\u2019s Pro offsider in the #246 Team BRM Audi R8 LMS Evo II.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really excited to be joining GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS for this round with Mark and Team BRM in the Audi LMS GT3 Evo II,\u201d said Randle, who took a last-start Supercars podium at Albert Park.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity, even if it\u2019s just a one-off for now, and it\u2019s nice to be back working with the team again after my time with them in S5000.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/1-43-scale-2023-the-bend-race-21-pole-55-ford-mustang-thomas-randle-model?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/ACD43F23F_2_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a bit of a reunion there with Marcus (Koch) as well, which makes it even more enjoyable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s also my first time driving the Audi GT3\u2026 Phillip Island is a track I love, and GT cars always put on a great show here, so it\u2019s a perfect place to kick things off.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal is to work closely with Mark, be competitive, and hopefully put ourselves towards the front.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it leads to more opportunities later in the year, that would be fantastic, but for now, the focus is on doing the best job we can this weekend and filling in while Alex recovers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/News_S5000_2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33131\"  \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1293-Thomas-Randle\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas Randle<\/a> (#49) in his S5000 days.
