Gasoline prices have risen for five consecutive weeks in Japan. This week, prices rose in all 47 prefectures, and are at their highest in Yamagata, at \u00a5198.50.<\/p>\n<p class=\"photo_box_c_v2\" style=\"width: 500px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/2973135.png\" class=\"fancybox\" rel=\"gallery\" data-libid=\"2973135\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/2973135.png\" data-libid=\"2973135\" alt=\"Regular Gasoline Retail Prices in Japan Per Liter (National Average)\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As a measure against rising prices, on March 19 the government reintroduced subsidies of \u00a530.20 per liter to petroleum suppliers that had been phased out at the end of 2025. By doing so, it aims to keep the price of gasoline down at around \u00a5170 per liter.
