Former Australian international cricketer Usman Khawaja has welcomed his third child alongside his wife Rachel.<\/p>\n
In a post on Instagram, the now retired first-class cricketer announced the birth of his third daughter, Amira Maya Khawaja, posing with his wife and children from her hospital bed.<\/p>\n
\u201c3 from 3. Amira Maya Khawaja born last Friday,\u201d Khawaja shared in the joint post with his wife.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are so grateful. Another beautiful girl. 8 more to for a full team! Alhamdulillah.\u201d<\/p>\n
The pair first became parents to Aisha in 2020 and Ayla in 2022. <\/p>\n
David Warner was among the first to congratulate Khawaja with the message: \u201cCongrats mate, must be an openers thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
He was joined by Matt Renshaw, Becky Cummins \u2013 the wife of Pat Cummins, and even Channel 7 presenter Erin Holland and Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi who wished Khawaja well.<\/p>\n
Khawaja retired from Tests earlier this year and used a press conference to call out the criticism he had received from cricketing greats.<\/p>\n
It confirmed rumours flying around that the star batsman and first player of Muslim faith had been considering retirement from all international cricket after the Sydney Test. <\/p>\n
During the press conference, he brought up facing the battles of growing up in Australia after his parents migrated from Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Khawaja\u2019s composure was rocky as he spoke about his family, becoming emotional.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope I have inspired many children along the way particularly those that feel that they are different,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose that feel that they don\u2019t belong. Or those told they will never make it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI felt all these things growing up while trying to be an Australian cricketer. But seeing is believing and I am here to tell you that you can do whatever you want.\u201d <\/p>\n
During the reading of a statement at the beginning of the press conference, had to pause to compose himself when speaking about his beloved wife who \u201cchanged the path of my life \u2026 and my career.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cRachey, my beloved wife, this journey has asked more of you than it ever has for me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou carried our family so that I could chase my dream and I\u2019ll always be grateful for that. And don\u2019t worry you\u2019ll always remind me that my international centuries came after I met you. You truly are one of my greatest blessings in life.\u201d<\/p>\n
