{"id":551645,"date":"2026-03-20T00:15:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T00:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/551645\/"},"modified":"2026-03-20T00:15:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T00:15:14","slug":"ryan-johansen-officially-retires-from-nhl-after-13-seasons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/551645\/","title":{"rendered":"Ryan Johansen officially retires from NHL after 13 seasons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ryan Johansen is officially hanging up his skates.<\/p>\n<p>Over the span of his career, Johansen compiled 110 goals and 252 assists for 362 points in 533 games.<\/p>\n<p>Originally the fourth-overall pick of the 2010 NHL Draft by the <a class=\"sn-team-post-link\" data-team=\"columbus-blue-jackets\" data-league=\"nhl\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/teams\/columbus-blue-jackets\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Columbus Blue Jackets<\/a>, the Vancouver native remained with the organization until he was traded to the <a class=\"sn-team-post-link\" data-team=\"nashville-predators\" data-league=\"nhl\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/teams\/nashville-predators\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Nashville Predators<\/a> in 2016 in exchange for Seth Jones.<\/p>\n<p>Johansen would enjoy, arguably, the best moments of his career with Nashville before he was traded to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/teams\/colorado-avalanche\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"colorado-avalanche\" data-league=\"nhl\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Colorado Avalanche<\/a> in June 2023.<\/p>\n<p>He last played in the 2023-24 season, suiting up for 63 games with the Avalanche, scoring 13 goals and racking up 23 points.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2024, Johansen was traded to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/teams\/philadelphia-flyers\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"philadelphia-flyers\" data-league=\"nhl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> but never played for them after he was placed on unconditional waivers following a material breach of conduct that an independent arbitrator ultimately ended up ruling in favour of Philadelphia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Ryan Johansen is officially hanging up his skates.
