As expected, Samsung has just confirmed plans to launching AirDrop support via Google\u2019s Quick Share on its Galaxy S26 series in the near future.<\/p>\n

During a press conference in Japan, as reported by Korean publication EBN<\/a>, Samsung\u2019s Choi Won-jun confirmed that, yes, the company plans to roll out AirDrop support to the Galaxy S26 series soon. This was rumored around the time of the Galaxy S26 series launch when an early software build mentioned support, but it was not live on the series upon their initial launch earlier this month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We plan to support AirDrop compatibility starting with the Galaxy S26 series\u2026 It will be provided sequentially through software updates.<\/p>\n

Other Galaxy devices will get support following the Galaxy S26 series, though a timeline on either remains unclear.<\/p>\n

Google first launched AirDrop support over Quick Share on its Pixel 10 series last year<\/a> in what was quite a surprise to everyone. The native implementation makes Pixel 10 devices \u2014 and now Pixel 9 series devices<\/a> \u2014 appear within AirDrop on iPhone, iPad, and Mac as if they were iPhones. The only big limitation is that devices need to be set to \u201cEveryone\u201d mode in order to see each other. Still, that\u2019s a far lower barrier of entry compared to what we had before.<\/p>\n

As far as an expansion beyond Pixel goes, Google hasn\u2019t made any official announcements. But it sounds like the floodgates could open at any moment. Recently, Oppo said that it expects AirDrop support<\/a> to land on its devices as soon as this month. <\/p>\n
