The Red Cross has revealed that its partnership with Metallica<\/a>\u2019s All Within My Hands foundation has collected over 40,000 blood donations since its launch in April 2025. That number includes over 25,000 donations in the US alone.<\/p>\n

The band encouraged blood donation to the life-saving organization at stops of their M72 tour in support of 72 Seasons, their most recent album.<\/p>\n

The partnership also posted some additional thrilling numbers: 16% of donors were first-time donors and nearly half of those were between the ages of 16-24. This trend of new donors matches a similar upward trend among Gen Z in particular toward medical donations.<\/p>\n

Darren Irby, Red Cross\u2019 executive director for national partnerships, said, \u201cWhat Metallica and their fans have accomplished this year is truly monumental \u2500 inspiring people to give blood for the first time while also energizing teens and young adults about the donation process.\u201d<\/p>\n

There were blood drive donation stations initially at select stops on the US leg of the M72 tour but quickly expanded nationwide and worldwide, offering unique merch as a reward like T-shirts and the chance to win an ESP Snakebyte guitar.<\/p>\n

Drummer Lars Ulrich said of the drive, \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled the Metallica Family recognizes the importance of blood donation and didn\u2019t hesitate to rally behind this lifesaving effort. Their enthusiasm has made a real difference, and we\u2019re honored to stand alongside them.\u201d<\/p>\n
