It has sent \u201cpurely defensive\u201d support to the Middle East to help defend Gulf nations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cWe express our readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait,\u201d the republished statement, released by UAE\u2019s foreign ministry, stated on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cWe welcome the commitment of nations who are engaging in preparatory planning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">It declared that nations had the ability to respond consistent with UNSC Resolution 2817, insisting that Iran\u2019s strikes had disrupted the global energy supply which was a \u201cthreat to international peace and security\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cIn this regard, we call for an immediate comprehensive moratorium on attacks on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas installations,\u201d it stated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">When asked on Sunday what assets Australia would commit as part of its a contribution to the joint push, Defence Minister Richard Marles\u2019 office only reiterated his confirmation that it would \u201cwork with our friends and partners in accordance with that statement\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">A spokeswoman pointed to his previous statements that the United States hadn\u2019t made requests to Australia for navy support.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cIn respect of the Straits of Hormuz, we do not have a request from the United States in respect of that,\u201d he had said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9czhig-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cAs you are aware, there is a British\u2011led statement which Australia has signed.
