Matty Johns has delivered a powerful message to the Broncos after they renamed a conference room previously named in Gorden Tallis\u2019 honour<\/a>, declaring the club has made themselves look \u201cpretty petty and pretty small\u201d.<\/p>\n

CODE Sports reported earlier in the week<\/a> that Brisbane had instead decided to rename the conference room in honour of NRLW legend Ali Brigginshaw, having gained access to an email from CEO Dave Donaghy to staff confirming as much.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrisbane Broncos recognise the positive contributions and ongoing support of a number of club legends by way of naming various meeting rooms within the Clive Berghofer Centre,\u201d Donaghy said in the email. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe naming of the Ali Brigginshaw meeting room recognises her outstanding contribution to the Broncos club since the inception of the NRLW program, including leading the Club to four NRLW Premierships.\u201d<\/p>\n

It comes after an outspoken Tallis was critical of captain Adam Reynolds earlier in the week<\/a>, while he has also been involved in a longstanding feud with coach Michael Maguire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While Tallis himself played down the ongoing drama and insisted he was \u201cfine with it\u201d, Johns said otherwise on Sunday in a strong message directed to the Broncos.<\/p>\n

\u201cGorden is outspoken. Gorden is one of those blokes, you love him because he just says what he thinks,\u201d Johns said on Fox League\u2019s \u2018Sunday Night with Matty Johns\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never ever seen Gorden have an opinion or try to fabricate something for a personal gain. He just tells it like it is. <\/p>\n

\u201cI disagree with Gorden sometimes. I thought when Madge was appointed he was the perfect man for Brisbane. Gorden doesn\u2019t. That\u2019s fine because we\u2019re mates. <\/p>\n

\u201cI heard him interviewed today and he said, \u2018I don\u2019t care. I don\u2019t care\u2019. He cares. You think about how much he\u2019s done for that club. He captained that club. He loves those blokes he played alongside. <\/p>\n

\u201cFor the Broncos to remove his name, I\u2019ve got to say to the Broncos: you\u2019re the number one sporting club in rugby league, in the world, but I\u2019ll tell you what, what you\u2019ve done makes yourselves look pretty petty and pretty small.\u201d<\/p>\n

Madge responds to Tallis criticism | 04:48<\/p>\n

Tallis addressed his former club\u2019s move on Sunday afternoon on Triple M, refuting any suggestions he had taken it personally while declaring \u201cthey can\u2019t take away my memories\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m good. I\u2019m fantastic. Nothing has changed in my life. Not one bit… I\u2019m fine with it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re fine. I respect their stance. Don\u2019t worry about it, move on. I\u2019m in a business and it is opinionated.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo I don\u2019t. Why would I (be hurting)? Come on. They can\u2019t take away my memories. They can\u2019t take away what I did. No one can. No one can take away what you do in your life. I\u2019m a Dragon. I\u2019m a Bronco and I\u2019m a Tiger. I\u2019m a rugby league fan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johns was not the only one to take issue with Brisbane\u2019s actions. Speaking on Triple M Radio on Saturday afternoon, The Daily Telegraph\u2019s David Riccio also called it a \u201cpetty\u201d move from the Broncos.<\/p>\n

\u201cI firmly believe that just because you don\u2019t agree with Gordie\u2019s opinion, just because he\u2019s having his say at this time \u2014 and a very staunch opinion no doubt, I get it. But he\u2019s also paid to have that opinion,\u201d Riccio said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact that he holds that say, it shouldn\u2019t sway away from what he has done for the football club.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the Parramatta Eels took umbrage about everything that former great Ray Price said about the club over the past 20 years, there would not be a statue outside of the front of CommBank Stadium… the Broncos firmly believe it\u2019s slanted against Madge due to the fact Gordie has a very tight relationship with Kevvie Walters and then second to that is now the assertion in and around their captain Adam Reynolds.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Broncos have had enough. They\u2019ve taken this stance. I think it\u2019s too far.
