The cyclone currently dumping rain through the Northern Territory will soon bring stormy weather to the West, with even Perth a chance to cop rain later in the week.<\/p>\n

Tropical Cyclone Narelle<\/a> crossed the Northern Territory coast on Sunday morning as a category three system, bringing wind gusts up to 165km an hour and dumping about 120mm of rain on the remote settlement of Gove, 1000km east of Darwin.<\/p>\n

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Jonathan How said Narelle was weakening as it moved overland and was expected to drop below cyclone strength later on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe system will still bring heavy rain and strong winds across the Top End as it tracks west,\u201d Mr How said.<\/p>\n

Those conditions will likely make their way to WA as a tropical low, although forecasters have not ruled out the chance of a cyclone reforming over warm waters.<\/p>\n

Flood advice warnings have already been issued for West Australians in the north Kimberley near the NT border.<\/p>\n

By Tuesday, Narelle could emerge north of Broome, bringing gale-force winds and heavy rain.<\/p>\n

Additional disaster support has been rolled out for affected people in the Northern Territory, with Personal Hardship Payments available to people impacted by the cyclone and subsequent flooding.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese measures are about getting support where it\u2019s needed most and helping families as we ultimately move into recovery,\u201d Northern Territory Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro said.<\/p>\n
